has anyone tried this? (diy dry shampoo)

http://petitelefant.com/how-to-dry-shampoo/

I have bought 3 cans and used each one about 3 times and then it won't spray anymore. I've tried unclogging it and this and that but it seems like the spray accelerator just dissipates or something. I dunno. Weird, but I'm not spending another $2 whole dollars on that!  ::giggle::

Just curious. I'd like opinions before I go to all that work to make my own.  ha

Re: has anyone tried this? (diy dry shampoo)

  • I would rather spend the money on a new can. In fact, there was a coupon in the sunday paper for the Suave one --- which I found I like much better than the Tresemme one :)

  • I have had that problem with the Tresemme one, but not with the suave one. I don't use it as dry shampoo, but to add some volume to my super thin/fine hair. For that I actually like the Tresemme better, but have been using the Suave since it will actually spray.
  • If you're going to go the DIY route, I'd just skip that other stuff in the 'recipe' and sprinkle some baby powder on your scalp. That's what I've done for years. However, I agree with the PPs about Suave, that stuff works way better than anything else I've tried.
  • Yeah, the Suave one smells too strong for me, and I have found my loose face powder works just as well.
  • I agree with pp, if you want to go DIY, just use some baby powder (but this seems to work better on lighter hair...) If not, buy the suave, out of all the ones I've tried this one never stops spraying and lasts a long time. And it smells great!
  • Have never had an issue with the Suave one, but I'm still on my first can since I don't use it that often...and when I do it's just for volume on 'non wash' days.  It is a bit strong smelling, but you get used to it.
