Dissappointed in LOFT lately

I feel like everything of theirs has gotten so freakin' cheap.  All the shirts are really thin and the jeans I got there 2-3 years ago are outlasting the pairs I got within the last year.  I've now had 3 or 4 of their camis or tanks get a hole or start unraveling at the seams.

I've heard that this is a trend across the clothing and textile industry, to cheapen the fabric and craftsmanship but LOFT is by far the worse offender I've experienced lately.

Probably not a coincidence that they are constantly having 40% sales.

Re: Dissappointed in LOFT lately

  • I haven't been there in a while but that's why I stopped shopping at J. Crew. I even had problems with my expensive winter coats from them. If I'm going to have something fall apart, I would much rather it be a $30 article of clothing than a $100 article.
  • I totally agree about Loft. I dont even walk in there anymore. I did work at Loft during 2006-07 and purchased a ton of clothes and those items have definitely outlasted the stuff I bought last year. Everything is so thin. Why is what should be a warm sweater thin and see through?

I've been doing more shopping at BR. Basically go shop, try on stuff and then wait for an email for 40% off or one of their 40% off days generally random Wednesdays or Thursdays and then buy what I want.

  • See I had that problem with Loft two or three years ago and recently for the most part I've been please with the quality of their clothes - to me it seems they improved(so started out good, got bad, then got good again.)

I've found the cheapness to be an issue with the Gap for me (and Old Navy but that's to be expected I think.)

  • Every single one of those stretchy soft shirts I've gotten from there gets holes in the middle (so not a seam) within the first few wears.  I will only buy thicker things from there and only when they are having like 50% all sale items, or 40% off everything.  I feel that way about a lot of stores lately, the quality of product has just gone way down.  I used to love Gap jeans, they fit me well and had ankle length which was perfect for me, now their fabric is so thin and gets baggy and out of shape quickly.  And I will get the same exact cut, but in different washes and they fit totally differently, quality control has gone to sh!t.

  • I agree, I haven't been liking the quality there so I haven't been shopping there very much.  I much prefer Banana lately.
