Re: Lasik recomendations

  • I had mine done at TLC on Westshore Blvd in Tampa, it's right off 275.  They are great and I had a fabulous experience there.  I can't remember the Dr's name now but he was highly recommended and for all my follow ups with my regular eye Dr they were very impressed with his work and my healing.  After 48 hours you could hardly tell I had the procedure done.   H had his done at Lasik Plus and although they did a good job and his vision is perfect still 5 years later, I would recommend TLC first.

What makes you rec one over the other? Was it the quality of the procedure or the staff?

  • Well he went for a consult at TLC after having his contacts out for 3 weeks and they wouldn't do his because he had blood vessel damage from long time contact use.  They said for him to come back in 6 months without wearing contacts and they would re evaluate.  Then he went to Lasik Plus for a consult and they said they could fit him in for the surgery right then and there.  He needed to get the money together first so he made an appt for a week later.  He had the surgery at Lasik Plus and even though there was a little bleeding it was a complete success.  Everybody was professional and we had no problems with anyone at all.  I just thought it was a little weird because at Lasik Plus the procedure room has a glass wall that goes to the waiting room so while you are waiting you watch the surgery, and there is also a giant tv screen that shows the eyeball and the entire procedure to the waiting room.  It's weird.  So ultimately TLC is more particular about who and when they operate on, and it is more personal and private, so I just personally felt I trusted them more.

This is where I had mine done in 2007. I have nothing even remotely negative to say. I sometimes forget I ever had Lasik; I wish I'd done it sooner in life.
