When you are out in public, do you sit or squat?

  • Squat.

  • You're on a roll today.  Love it. :)

I'll sit unless it's a portalet or someone made a huge mess and I'm desperate.

  • I hate the squatters because they splatter pee all over the place!  I sit my bum right on down if there's no pee on the toilet seat (assuming there IS a toilet seat, so many toilets don't have one).  If there is pee on the seat I clean it off with tp and then sit down.  I try to carry tissues and antibacterial cream in my purse when out for this reason.

    I don't do squatting well.

    Which do you do?

  • Squatting is dangerous!  I'm afraid I'll pee down the back of my leg.

This too!  It has happened to me before.  Ewwwwwww.

  • I sit and always have.  I'm one of the least germaphobic people I know though.

  • And I too judge people who squat and don't clean up afterwards...gross!

  •

I put down a tissue or tp first. I dont know if that makes a difference but it makes me feel better.

  • I squat and always clean up afterward if there is any splash. I got used to hole in the ground toilets in Asia where you have no choice but to squat. Never peed down my leg.

This exactly, minus the Asia part

  • I sit, I was once told by a urologist that you are more likely to get a UTI from squatting and not emptying your bladder properly than from the toilet seat, however I am the queen of squatting in some Asian toilets and when we traveled through some fairly remote areas of South America.

  • It's really situation-specific. Work - sit. Restaraunt- TP nest. Dirty pub - squat.

I'm with these ladies (also minus Asia) and also with rpic that it's situation specific. In a nice restaurant or something, I might sit. And I definitely sit at work. A train station? Airplane? NO WAY.

No wonder there is always "water" all over the bathroom floor in airplanes!!

You realize you can squat OVER the toilet, right?

  • I'm not very germaphobic. I sit.

Unless it's so dang gross that I am suddenly able to hold it in for another half hour until I find a clean(er) toilet.

  • I squat for the most part, but as my belly gets bigger, sitting is just easier.
    Photobucket
  • I sit. If it is wet, I  hover or I clean the seat and go for it. I honestly don't care about the germs :) I'm more worried about hand washing after than if I sit or squat
  • EWWWWWWWW!  I never sit on a toliet.  Even at someone's house...I never sit on a toliet.  I always squat!

On a side note, I hate the squatty pottys (the ones with a hole in the ground, no toliet).  Those make me hate everything about public restrrooms.   I had to use one once in Singapore (at one of the nicest malls) and I almost left in tears.

Same here. And to asnwer the poll, I sit.

  • I sit. I almost always wipe down the seat first, and make a tp nest if necessary. I've never really gotten the hang of the squatting thing. The few times I've had to use the hole-in-the-ground squat toilets, I thought that was much easier than squatting over a regular toilet, but I ended up having to take my shorts/underwear off of one leg because I was worried I'd end up peeing on my clothes! That was complicated, trying to get them off without them touching the ground or the bottom of my shoe. I think I was wearing sandals, so that made it easier.
