Asking for a job from a friend
I am a library paraprofessional (don't have my degree yet) and I've been laid off. I have a friend that was a coworker who moved on to a bookstore environment (it deals with rare books). I was a rare book cataloger. I am wondering how to approach her for a position or see if she needs help. Would an email be weird? I don't have her phone numbers, but I do keep in touch via Facebook and Linkedin.
What do you guys think? Thanks in advance!
Re: Asking for a job from a friend
Approach it professionally. Don't "ask her for a job". Contact her and let her know you're looking for a job and you understand she/her employer deals w/ rare books. You're interested in finding out if they have any open positions that they are hiring for. If they do, ask her if she would be willing to pass on your resume.

Right, right. I wouldn't just be like, "Hey, hook me up." I just was wondering how to approach it. I think that's a good way.
