3 cups steel cut oats, 12 cups of water, add as much cinnamon and brown sugar as you want (I tend to add a little and then people can add more to suit their tastes). If you want to do a smaller batch, just do a 1/4 ratio of oats to water.
5-6 hours on low and it is done!
I add raisins, dried cranberries, dried apples, nuts, etc to each bowl as I eat it. The first time I made it I added raisins at the beginning and they were all mushy.
Every time I've made crockpot oatmeal, it has turned out horrendous, regardless of the tweaks I've made to it. It always turns out awful and gooey. I must be doing something wrong.
But there is a super-quick Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal recipe on all recipes that is awesome. As long as I have the apples pre-diced, it takes less than 10 minutes to make.
Me too! I quit messing with it and turned to making oatmeal breakfast bars instead (which really are just like big cookies).
