Can you guys tell I like Halloween and think about it excessively?
So...I like to do something sort gently costume-esque during the day when halloween falls on a weekday. Previous years I've worn kitty ears with a totally normal outfit, wicked witch of the west style striped socks with my black pencil skirt. Little stuff, but fun.
Someone recently told me I look like Liz Lemon (I think it was meant to be a burn in some weird way - but I think Tina Fey is adorable so I took it as a compliment) - and I realized I do actually have a very similar haircut now. And I wear glasses, though mine are not black. So...is there something i could wear that would be recognizably liz lemon-ey or will I just look like me, in my normal work clothes?
But my specific non-costume aside - Does anybody else dress up at work? Does anybody go full out costume at work? What kind of work environment is it? do other people in your office dress up?
Re: Costumes at work? Also - Can I be Liz Lemon?
You could totally pull off Liz Lemon. I think the glasses are key.
Not sure what happens in my office, I wasn't working here last year. I'm pretty sure nothing as everyone seems pretty straightlaced and nothing deviates from the norm.

No one here does, at all, but we also have like 6 US Americans in the whole building. Some of the Latin Americans are even offended by the dressing up and scariness because it's so polar to Dia de los Muertos. Sigh.
I think you could totally do Liz Lemon but be prepared for people to think you just look normal. I'd muss your hair, get the right glasses and afix a "TGS" logo to a hoodie. And slip "Blerg!" or "Nerds!" into frustrating conversations.

The professionals usually don't, but the staff usually does. I plan on wearing a long sleeve Halloween t, some cat earrings and some Halloween socks. So I am honoring the holiday without looking too out of place.
My dad's mom got me these sterling silver cat earrings that dangle. I'm not really a cat person and have never really owned a cat.
yeah, one of my criteria is that it does actually have to be office appropriate.
I'm thinking dark jeans, and then either a scoop neck top with a cardigan or a blazer or a button down top under a v-neck sweater. With my purple sneakers that look kinda like chucks. Or I might just get myself a new pair of chucks - I had like 5 pairs in high school and I miss them.
Does that sound liz lemoney?

Oh I am. that's half the point - it's just a subtle costume. i dont' want to be that girl in the elevator with the big bird costume.
As for the mussed hair - I think I've got that down!

Also try not to be the girl in the (non-slutty) Marilyn Monroe costume at the Halloween party whose photo ends up as desktop wallpaper for the creeptastic IT guy.
Yeah, that happened.
