Gale is HOT!
I was expecting a little bit of a stockier dude for Peeta. He's not what I pictured.
Not what I pictured for Rue.
Haymitch is supposed to be a fat scruffy drunkard you see in the old western movies. That's what I pictured.
Cinna...I'm torn. I think the dude (Persian bad guy) from 300 would be perfect as Cinna!

I like who they casted for Katniss and Gale. I'm glad they cast a brunette for Peeta, since that is what I always pictured (even though in the book he is blonde). I pictured someone stockier as well, but it works for me. (And I am totally Team Peeta by the way. I have an (age-appropriate) crush!)
I am not thrilled with Woody Harrelson for Haymitch. I think Jeff Bridges would have been the perfect person to play that role.
Also, wtf Lenny Kravitz? Not at all what I pictured. But Kasi, I pictured somebody totally different than you. I pictured a clean cut, quiet white guy as Cinna. Somebody definitely understated.
2012 Reading Challenge
Jeff Bridges would have been PERFECT as Haymitch! Exactly what I pictured.
I totally pictured Cinna as a skinny flamboyant black guy which made me think of the Persian guy from 300. Not sure why I pictured him that way.
I have a crush on Gale but only some of the time. He's not cute in all his pics.

We were just talking last night about how there should be a movie!
Well cast from these photos, though Haymitch is much too young.
Haymitch is the only one that I'm really not feeling. He is a drunk, so I figured he wouldn't look so put together. I'm hopeful that Woody Harrelson can pull it off, but we'll see.
Effie is perfect and I'm really liking Katniss now that's I've though about it. I like Rue, too.
I actually pictured Liam Hemsworth (the actor that is playing Gale) as Peeta (with his natural blond hair) while reading. I have a crush on that actor, but I picture Gale as more rough and not as pretty.
I think Josh Hutcherson will do a good job as Peeta, even though he is so not how I pictured Peeta. It's funny, I love Peeta character and Gale the actor.
I pictured Cinna like Kasi did. I think Lenny Kravitz can pull it off, though.
I'm very excited for this movie!

I'm pretty happy with the casting.
I do think Peeta should be a beefier dude and I always envisioned Cinna as a petite Asian, so Lenny totally goes against that for me but we'll see how he is. I don't see Rue at all, so that is a stretch for me.
I'm sorry but Woody is perfect for Haymitch, he is a great actor and I think he'll really do justice to the role, I'm sure with makeup it will look great, I envisioned him as someone in his late 40s which isn't too far off from Woody.
I know the author was really involved in casting so I hope the movie does justice to her vision.

2012 Reading Challenge
I've only read the 1st book (I just got Catching Fire and Mockingjay from the library yesterday) but some of the casting seems off. I agree that I would have seen Peeta as someone a little beefier and I don't see Lenny Kravitz as Cinna.
I do like Woody as Haymitch if they have done the make-up right because I think he has the ability to act like a drunken moron.
