Rangers cheers & tears... here!

I didn't think we wanted the normal Friday thread to get clumped up with Rangers talk, so I started a post for it.

Last night, I was sad. But also... man... what a great game of baseball! That back and forth is why I love the sport. And hey, going to a game 7 just means we get to watch another game.

I just hope that Washington figures out his strategy. I don't want to blame anyone, after all "That's the way baseball go"... but I'd hate to think we'd lose the World Series just because we were out coached. Especially by that *muttermutter* La Russa.

Re: Rangers cheers & tears... here!

  • I didn't watch the game so am I allowed to watch tonight?  Wink
  • OMG - I was SO stressed out last night.  Now I'm going to have to go through it all again tonight.  ONE STRIKE AWAY.... TWICE.  They are trying to cause me a nervous breakdown, I'm positive.

Anyways, tonight.  This is it one way or the other.  Rangers, you better pull it out!

Where are y'all watching the game?

I have no idea where I'm going to watch the game.  DH has hockey, and I don't want to watch it at the rink b/c they are small, crappy, standard def TV's.  Now I have to find someone else to watch it with otherwise I will drive myself crazy watching alone.

  • I had to do updates online and I was stressed out. I hope they can make it work tonight. I don't know if I'll be watching or not.
  • I had to watch the game alone and that is very hard!  Scared my poor dogs a few times.

I'm not blaming Wash at all.  I think he has done a great job getting us to where we are now but I do question his bullpen strategy.  Ogando over Holland?  Pulling Holland early.  Pulling Feliz and bringing in Oliver?  I think the batters did their job and I think Colby started the game out great.  I think our first mistake was bringing in Ogando.  He loaded the bases and was super lucky Holland covered his butt and got the out we needed with bases loaded.

Cruz may be out tonight. Hopefully Napoli's ankle is better and I hope they find some glue or something to keep the ball in their hands.

And warming up CJ?  REALLY?  He can't start what makes Wash think he can finish?  I really hope that Harrison has a good start.  We are up against Carpenter again and we are going to need an ace on the mound also.  Hopefully Wash uses Holland more this game.

  • I can't talk about it--well, barely.  I didn't sleep at all last night.  Last night was so gut-wrenching--I was actually eating saltines at one point because I actually thought I might throw up.  I can't take it--I hate that I get so emotionally invested in sports.  My heart is breaking the most for Josh Hamilton--I just knew that 2-run homer was going to make him a hero.

My biggest Wash moment was when he didn't pinch hit for Colby with the bases loaded.  That seemed to me like a bad omen.  And Ogando has proven he doesn't have it against St. Louis--I almost died when Wash put him in.

I'm not watching tonight.  I don't have another game like that in me.

  • I literally walked out of the auditorium (with everyone else) to see the back to back homers.  I also got their autographs--so giddy!

I am wearing the lucky shirt.  It's on tonight.  It's on.

  • Stephanie,

I can't tell you how many times I just closed my eyes, ready to be sick.  Bill actually starts worrying.

    Dana,

I'm a little worried about our pitching but we got Carpenter last time and he only had three days rest.

I know.  We have Harrison who has been pretty good.  I'm ok with this starting choice. I'm not ok with CJ being anywhere in the line or an option.  I'm sorry but he has yet to prove himself and I just don't think we can let the game depend on him.  Carpenter looked like he was ready to play last night.  That is one reason I didn't want the rain delay Wednesday. I didn't want Carpenter ready.  I know we have gotten him before but I think he might be a better pressure pitcher.

I also agree with whoever said why not pinch hit Colby with the bases loaded.  I like Colby and think he did a great job but the bases are loaded.  Bring in Murphy (not great in the post season but much more reliable) or someone else.

And why was GERMAN even an option???  I was so upset.  It still gets me upset talking about it.

  • Y'all, for someone who's not even a sports fan, that game made ME stress eat! Also, someone on my FB said they should put Nolan in to pitch. I lol'd.

I had to listen on the radio since we didn't make it home in time to see any of it. Eric Nadal said that German had some really great numbers for that situation.  The gamble just didn't work.

  • Well before the series I called Rangers in 7 games, so we are still on track! They better win tonight cause I was promised a josh jersey by my DH when they win the series.
  • OMG the game was insane last night!!! I almost had a heartattack.  They really should have won last night, too many mistakes.  I hope they come back and win it tonight.
