Are you a picky eater?

Someone said I was picky the other day...there are a few things I HATE foodwise:

-olives (black or green)

-mushrooms

-shellfish/fishy seafood (but I like mild fish and tuna)

I really think that is all....I will try just about anything really, but I think it's funny that someone said I was picky. Probably because we were ordering pizza and the first request was mushroom which I vetoed, then something with olives, which I also said no to.

So what things will you NOT eat?

Re: Are you a picky eater?

  • I don't think I'm picky. Like you, there are only a few things I won't eat and I have tried them all. I occasionally try things I haven't liked in the past to give them another shot, too.

I won't eat olives, lobster, or oysters.

    Right here!

I could probably give you a longer list of things I won't/don't eat than what I do. But I've gotten better over the years.

    And no, I don't think you're picky.

  • I eat like a kid too. I dislike most condiments. Ketchup only goes on fries and in small amounts. No cream cheese, sour cream, etc for me. Alot of my issues are texture related too. I am getting more adventurous as I get older though.
  • Claire that's not picky at all.

I am not picky. I eat things I don't particularly like all the time. Eg "hm, this is kind of weird/olivey/whatever" Then I keep chewing. I would do great in a famine, but it is not a good trait in the world of 1st World Food Abundance.

I struggle with raw vegetables though. I won't eat anything raw except a few bites of lettuce, bell peppers, cucumbers, onions and tomatoes.  Hell, I struggle with cooked veggies too but I can choke down a few bites of most things.

I don't particularly care for fish or shellfish and never order it (tuna salad and scallops aside) but I'll eat it too (I do love a crab leg or two on Christmas Eve). I also don't like turkey or ham, and but will have a bit to be polite on holiday and/or if it is free in a sandwich at work. Same for eggs. I eat them on Sundays b/c Chris LOVES them. Actually I can make a long list of things I don't like but will eat.

The only thing I can think of I won't touch is scrapple. ETA: and ketchup and yellow mustard. Gag.

  • I'm not picky at all, however I also don't care for olives.  I have learned to deal with mushrooms and they aren't all that bad, but I hate the taste of olives.

I appear to be picky when it comes to pizza ordering as well, just because I don't really care for any meat on my pizza except chicken or canadian bacon, and I don't like olives.

Otherwise, I'm extremely adventurous, so is DH.  We have a ton of fun making/trying/eating new foods.

Ha! Scrapple. My mom love that stuff. When we ask her what is in it she says "parts is parts."
  • I am a picky eater. My list of what I do eat would be shorter then what I don't eat
  • I do not eat: mussels/oysters or mushrooms. I don't really like salmon/tuna steaks (or other thick fish), but I will eat them if there's no other option.

During this pregnancy, chicken disgusts me (but normally I love chicken).

    Otherwise, I'm not very picky!

  • I can be pretty picky, but I try not to be

    I do not like:

Meatballs/meatloaf/hotdishes (I think most of you people call them 'casseroles')
    Spam-like foods
Slimy or gritty textures (I don't think I'd like sushi)

    Haven't/don't want to try:
    Tofu
    Anything non-domestic
