Friday afternoon stuff to do?

I'm meeting a former colleague who is in from OOT for lunch and then we're going to spend the afternoon together. Her son went to Georgetown so I'm thinking she's done the museums and whatnot.  Any ideas for fun/interesting things to do this afternoon?

She's staying at the Marriott in Woodley Park but I think we'll go elsewhere for lunch. I can't think of any particularly good place in that area.

Any thoughts are appreciated!

  • in cleveland park, i like byblos and tacklebox a lot.

what about the food exhibit at the national archives? has she been to the zoo recently? i've been several times since we moved here and still spent like 5 hours there when our friends were in town a few weeks ago.

not free, but i love the phillips collection

  • Agreed, the zoo is really fun.  I don't know how many of the animals will be out with the weather so cold though.  Unfortunately the National Cathedral is still closed, because that's a neat thing to go to in that area.

  • Thanks for the suggestions!

I'm open to stuff further away from Woodley as well.
