I'm going to Filene's Basement's Running of the Brides tonight
My sister got engaged recently and we're going dress shopping tonight. I didn't get to do this classic event for my own wedding so I'm kind of looking forward to it
We're not doing it the usual way though, with the mad rush of the crowd right at the opening. I couldn't take the day off work after just getting back from Brazil so we're just going to check it out tonight instead. Plus my other sister refuses to deal with the crowds.
I doubt we'll find "the" dress, but I think my sister will have fun.
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

Re: I'm going to Filene's Basement's Running of the Brides tonight
Ooh, have fun! I hope she finds something she likes. Or at least something ridiculous to have fun trying on!
I've always heard there's plenty left late in the day. That's pretty much the only way I'd go.
We're going to one of the stores in the 'burbs. I didn't even know they did it anywhere but downtown and that's the one I always associated the event with, but obviously that location is closed now.
I'll let you all know how it goes.
Yeah, I heard they moved it to Newton this year - maybe they figure they'll get a better crowd, since there's parking? I'm pretty sure they had it at Hynes after the Downtown Crossing store closed.
I wonder if they'll keep doing it since they're closing so many stores in MA?
Yes, this where it was when I went August'10. I don't think they did it this past summer though. I didn't realize they moved it to Newton.
Oh, I think you're right, that sounds familiar. I don't know much about it, just showing up where and when my sister told me
I thought maybe a few of the stores in the 'burbs were doing it, but maybe this is the one and only.
I kind of wish I could experience the mad rush, just to do it (I know, I'm weird). But whatever, it'll still be fun.
As every good sister should, heh.
I'd like to observe it, but I might have to cuttabitch if I had to go through it myself.

My friend did it last year and found a dress for $200 and she just got married, and the dress was gorgeous! I wanted to go with, but couldn't get off from work.
Have fun!
