Re: Give me your best chicken noodle soup recipe
Side question:
We can't use the frozen egg noodles because of E's egg allergy. Bummer b/c I LOVE those. Has anyone tried making a chicken and dumpling soup? I make steamed dumplings that are just balls of frozen bread dough. I wonder if they would get yucky if I put them in the soup. i worry it might be too much liquid. Any thoughts?

This is the recipe I use:

Its very good!! What about using rice instead of noodles?
On Crock Pot Girls there is a recipie for Chicken and Dumplings using tubes of the pilsburry biscuts.... it turned out really well!! Not sure how it would have been left over because we didn't have any left but it had great flavor!
Since you can't use noodles you could use rice or the no yoke noodles... I'm not sure if he could use those or if there is egg white in them? Or maybe Rice Noodles of some kind or a smaller pasta?
I usually brown chicken thighs and then add carrots and celary. Then I add a splash of wine and chicken stock and cook everything down and add some chicken breasts. I let everything simmer for what seems like an eternity and let it cool and cut up my chikcen. Add noodles. ( I make home made dumplings with egg sorry I'm not help here) and add some of the frozen egg noodles. Then I bring everything back up to a boil. Season if needed or add more chicken flavor and serve.
Whichever recipe you try, use Watkins chicken base. It's amazing...

It says you need a whole chicken, but I've made it before with just breast meat and it's fine. Baker's has whole chicken's for 99 cents a lb this week though!
