*Jhap* re: Halloween costume

What costumes had you guys decided on? You mentioned trying to talk DH into what we're doing but I don't remember if you mentioned the final decision. I'm sorry you don't get to use them this year.

  • Yeah he didn't think ppl would believe that he was what you guys are doing (idk if you were trying to keep that secret lol) which I think is a lame excuse but whatever. haha. We decided on him being Gru and I was going to be a minion from Despicable Me. I ended up making the top part of overalls bec I didn't want to pay to buy them when I'll never wear them.. and we couldn't find any long sleeve yellow shirts, so I bought 2 tshirts and cut one up to make long sleeves out of the body part. lol..  but I have no idea how to sew and no sewing machine, so that's why it took so much time. A normal person could've done it in 2 seconds. lol.

  • That's really cute. You put in a lot of work(I would have had the same issues) so I understand why you're bummed.

For DH's costume we got the exact shirt from the show that Dexter (not sure why i didn't say that before, it's not a secret) wears in the kill scenes and DH already had similar cargo pants. We got him black gloves, a fake retractable knife (that he is looking forward to stabbing me with all night), and a fake syringe. DH has a similar build to Dexter and hairstyle (though the color is off) so he definitely pulls it off. Plus, my whole family now thinks DH is a sociopath after seeing Dexter dance just like DH...

We haven't tested my costume yet so I'm more worried about mine than his. I have a nude tube dress, red shoes, stuff to make a bloodslide necklace, fake blood for a cut on my face and to put some in the Saran wrap around my stomach. In theory it should work (and I've found some tips online from other people who have done it) but we'll see. I just hope the Saran wrap is enough on top of the nude tube dress so I don't feel so naked...the dress is very light in color and super tight. Oh, and the ability to move would be nice.

  • I think yours will be awesome! You could also use duct tape for a little extra coverage.. he has had to get creative before. :)

Ha thanks! We're going to use clear packing tape to hold it all together but I'll definitely keep duct tape handy in case I'm worried. We will also have the saran wrap in the car. I don't think it will be see-through though, just tight.
