scentsy questions

Anyone else have problems with blowing light bulbs so quick? I'm wondering if its my outlets???? Every time I shut one off and go to turn it back on my light bulb blows. In 2 different ones and in 2 different places now. 1 plug in and 1 mid size. I turned the one off in the living room last night as I slept in the recliner next to it and went to turn it on this am and nothing.Maybe the key is to never turn it off :)

Re: scentsy questions

  • I have 4 of them that I've had for almost a year and have never had issues with bulbs going out.  It sounds like an outlet issue, although I'm surprised this is the first thing that has given that impression.
  • I just brought three lightbulbs to a coworker today because she said she's been having the same problem, but couldn't remember if it was happening to both of her plug ins, or just one as she moves them around a lot...she's supposed to pay more attention to it and let me know.

If it turns out to just be one, then it could be a bad base, and those can easily be replaced.  I might have one on hand, otherwise I can send the base in and they will send out a replacement to me same day.

If it's happening to all of them, in different areas of the house, it could be something electrical in the house?  IDK.  I've had my same warmers in the house and my office since I started selling over a year ago, and have never replaced a light bulb yet and the one in my office is on all day every day, ones at home are on every night/all weekend/days I'm home.

  • Yup, never had an outlet issue and been here almost 4 years. I guess they do run 24/7 though and I hardly ever turn them off even to change the scent so maybe thats my problem.....though my plug in bulb blew after 4 days. I changed the bulb and then decided I didnt want it in that spot anymore and when I went to plug it into another it wouldnt come on.

Its probably just my POS house :) Its two different warmers so don't think it would be a base issue. And I havnt had those two in the same outlet. I was just wondering is all. I have plenty of bulbs on hand right now thank gosh :)

  • I'd send the base back in then for sure!  If you know who you ordered it from, they can do that for you easily for free with your order # (they should have that).  If you are not in contact with them, let me know and I can order one for you.

When you pull it out of the wall does it come out easily or does it require work... perhaps just the slight pulling out is causing the bulb thingys to break?!?!

  • Is there a fuse in the plug itself?  I'd check there, too.

While the scentsy pros are here, be honest with me:  Are they diluting scents these days?  Or doing something different?  One, I notice they don't keep their smell as long and two (and the biggest thing I've noticed), when I pour used wax back into the package, it takes up more space than it used to.  For example, I'll use one little bar thingy in the burner, when it's done, pour it back in, and it will take up 2 little spaces.  Does that make sense?   I'm fairly sure it wasn't like this a year ago when I first started using Scentsy; it's been with this most recent purchase.

I'm about to go back to Yankee, I think.  :(

  • There was actually a blog post on the scentsy site answering a question from someone about the same exact thing a week or so back...explaining how the longer you use a scent, the more you become 'immune' to it's smell, and although nothing has changed with it, you don't think it lasts as long....If I can find it, I'll post it.

I will say that there are certain scents that I don't think last 1/4 as long as some of the others do...I sometimes change the scent in my office every week, othertimes I'll have the same cube in there for a month..and I honestly never smell it when I'm in here after a day or so unless I leave my office for awhile and come back in...just sitting in here will it I never smell it, but I know it has a scent as everyday someone comes in here asking what smells so good.  LOL!  And 90% of the time it's a guy.  :)

  • The blub blowing happens to me all the time on 2 differnt plug-in warmers. It is never in my big warmers. I have started leaving them on all the time and using a napkin or paper towel to sop up the wax when I want to change.
  • I love my scentsy!

I never pour my scents back in the package - but I also make sure I have different scents in different rooms - that way, my nose always smells something different walking through the house.

  • If it happens on other outlets feel free to contact your Scentsy consultant or any consultant. We are all willing to help you get it swapped out.

As far as the scents not lasting as long:  yes if you use the same scent all the time you do get used to the scent. Switch it up a little and add some variation.  However, if it is a new scent it depends on the moisture in the air.  If you use a humidifier in your house it seems to last longer hints the difference between winter and summer.  :)

If anyone ever has questions ask away one of us will know it! If not we will get it!
