Re: **soralette**

  • I don't know how old she is, off hand; she looks in her 20s in the profile photo she has up, though. I think she's relatively healthy; I found a post saying she passed her 3hr GD test, and I don't remember her mentioning any other issues. She's a pretty regular poster, so it probably would've come up...?

On 10/26, she posted this about bloody discharge after sex with lots of lower back pain and pelvic pressure... And then the next day made her post about being in labor. :(

I tried to find some of our old GTKY posts to get some more info, but it looks like TB flushes everything >2mos old or so; I can't find anything older than August, and I know we did a bunch of GTKY posts back in June and July.

Her blog is here... She had a lot of trouble with morning sickness, but I don't see anything else in there, really. :( ... Does look like she's about 26, though, if you read her first-date-with-husband story.

So, yeah, basically, this came out of nowhere, insofar as I can tell! Scary, scary stuff. :(

  • thanks for the indepth research! knew i could count on you :)

but yikes....that really really really sucks....in the best way possible, i was hoping she had lots of issues, highrisk, etc...so at least she knew it was coming...

i hope everything goes easily for her, her family, and everyone is healthy.....bright side is small baby, less painful? hopefully.... at least she'll get a 2010 tax credit?

  • Haha, happy to help. ;) Research is practically my middle name. (I'm a nerrrrrdddd)

And, yeah, I know exactly what you mean -- I was, too, for the same reason. Having this come out of the blue would be SO terrifying, especially since it seems like the doctors haven't been able to stop her labor and now her waters sprung a leak. :-/ At least being high-risk, she might've had some chance of being at all prepared for this. :(

I hope they're able to keep her baby inside for as long as possible!! I know one of my friend's brothers, when their mom was pregnant with him, it was a pretty similar situation as this, and they were able to keep him inside, even with the leak, for another month, and he came out just fine. :)

And, yeah -- smaller baby, should be a quick and easy labor once it gets to that inevitable stage, which is one relief. And I'm sure the tax credit will help!! And, really, this is why we celebrate V-day -- at least Walker has a good chance of pulling through this just fine!

Still ... :( It's only October! Wayyyy too early for a February baby! :( Oof.

  • my (crazy) next door neighbor had her baby quite some time early, too...i don't know the details, because that was before i started doing intensive baby research...i just know the babies were born 3 months early (there were 2). she was in the hospital for about 6 weeks before they came....i don't know if her water broke..or what exactly the situation was...but just makes me feel better that these babies *can* survive.

    october is way too early.....

  • Yeah, definitely -- the fact that they CAN survive born this early is amazing, and so very reassuring. At least it gives hope that, even labor comes early, the baby can still be just as healthy in the end!

  • Sorry to butt in, but there is a girl on the Seattle Babies board that had her baby at 25 weeks, and he is amazing now as a 3 year old (I think).  No delays or anything.  Her name is Marci, but I can't remember her screen name.  I think her name is in it.

Totally agreed, and that's wonderful news about Marci; I'm glad to hear it!! :) Very reassuring to all of us. <3

HEmery had her baby earlier today, for anyone who doesn't follow the Feb board and is interested. He's just shy of 2lbs and apparently putting up a good show of crying and fussing for the NICU staff, so it sounds like he's healthy so far! :)

  • Hey guys, just for some perspective - though I know regardless this is a super scary thing.

I am 25 years old and for absolutely no reason at all decided to make my appearance into the world at 26 weeks.  My mom wasn't a smoker, she did everything right, the doctors just called me impatient (hm.. i guess some things don't change).

Anyways, aside from part of my bowel not being developed (resulting in a small surgery to attach the two developed parts together), I am a totally functioning individual with no issues.   I weighed 2 lbs 1oz at time of delivery, dropped down to 1 lb 11 oz in the hospital but after my surgery and a few months in the hospital I was a happy kiddo.

This was 25 years ago and I imagine modern medicine has improved quite a bit in some cases, though I would never want anyone to be in the situation of delivering so early!

HEmery's EDD was the day after mine. :X

And, yeah, I definitely hear you on travelling! We're hitting Detroit and Maui for a week apiece in December, and I'm definitely going to have the addresses and contact numbers for the hospitals in each handy with me at all times! Eeep.

Really, that last sentence is more of what we're going on about... :) It's not that we don't think there can be good outcomes or anything like that, so much as it's an extremely stressful situation that, given our preferences and a perfect world, we'd vastly prefer to avoid.

I don't think any of us are panicking about it, so much as the realization that, hey, it's actually possible is sinking in and we're all a little stunned, y'know?

  • thanks for the perspective larz! i'm sure it's very very difficult on moms/families at birth, but in the end, it's no big deal. glad you're still kickin' too :)
