What should I get?
So I'm going to a bridal shower on Sunday afternoon and I don't know what gift to get. It's for a close friend of mine and unfortunately she is not register anywhere and I feel tacky giving her money.
I was thinking of getting her some wall art. What do you think? Any ideas?

Wall art is pretty personal. If you know her decorating style well, then go for it, but if not, it's iffy.
I usually end up with some sort of kitchen gadget and a cookbook that suits the item.
Stacking cooling racks? Dessert cook book, and maybe a box of gourmet cookie mix or something.
The shower I'm going to tomorrow will have a money tree instead of gifts. ::insert eye roll::
We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?
I'm personally not a fan of giving people art. It's such a personal thing and unless your sure about it may not be to their taste.
This is coming from a person that received a 'interesting' portrait of myself that glowed in the dark O_O ( I didn't know it glowed in the dark until at night when it scared the crap out of me)
What about a gift card to somewhere, it's money but does show you that you were thinking about her.
Ditto raynes and eeeva. I'd say wall art's tricky because everyone's taste is different. Unless you really know her style, I wouldn't go for that.
Does she like to bake or cook? For a friend's shower, my friends and I put together a gift basket with recipes, baking essentials like measuring cups, some fun/novelty cookie cutters, even some mixes from Williams-Sonoma. I think the basket was some nested mixing bowls. She loved it.
Ditto everyone else on the art, I personally wouldn't. However if you know she wants to decorate, how about a set of black frames of varying sizes so she can start a photo wall? (Particularly since she'll eventually have lots of wedding photos to display!)
Otherwise, some other suggestions: a set of towels, a magazine subscription for a hobby that they share (someone got us a year's worth of Bon Appetit magazine, we liked it so much that we've renewed it since), mixing bowls, martini glasses, picnic gear. It depends on what interests they have; if you could get something relevant to a hobby they share I think it would be great since they could use it together.

Those are all great ideas! I like the idea of getting her a cookbook although I'm a bit hesitant about kitchen stuff because she just bought a house a few months ago and bought all the kitchen stuff she needed.
I think some nice frames for wedding pictures would be nice along with a cookbook.

Oh I love the honeymoon basket. I gave my friends some Rick Steves travel books for their trip to Italy.
That's nice too! I'll see if I can find out where she is going.
My fall back position is always a picnic basket. They are nice to have and not something that you would usually buy for yourself, but it may be hard to find them this time of year.
