Give me your honest opinion on them. We have a portion of wall that we have a white board on. I would love to cover it with chalkboard paint, add a white boarder via chair rail or something around it. That way no matter what height Evie is she can play with it. It would be about 2 feet wide. So my bad ascii sketch below, it would be the area on the far left (eta I don't know my right from left...). It is a small hallway space that is used to get to the kitchen, dining room, hallway to living room. The opposite side of the wall is the kitchen and stools for a small bar area. The doorway to the dining room is open.

Think it would be stupid or fun?
Re: Chalkboard Walls
Love it!
We had a large portion of our wall in our dining room/living room that was next to the entry of our kitchen painted with black chalkboard paint in our apartment.
We had everyone who came over to our house sign it, and kept it up for the duration of time that we lived there.
I would have loved to do it in our house now but I didn't have a wall that it felt "right" on.

Chalk is also easy clean up.

However, my only concern now that I have a kid would be that it teaches them that it is ok to draw on the walls. I'd hate for them to have that moment with a marker on a wall that is meant to be white.
After the crayon to the TV incident, I like being able to insist that "we only write on paper".
Other than that, it sounds like a fun idea.
Plus, it seems like chalk dust would constantly be everywhere. Now, for a more secluded space, it probably wouldn't bother me as much. Last night, I even pinned an idea of how to make your own chalkboard paint (so you could make it any color) that I think I might try out when Sawyer is a little older. It will probably only go on an outside wall, like on a swingset or something.
