Question about socks...

My husband cleaned out his sock drawer and pulled out socks I didn't even know he had... (total surprise there, right?)

Anyway - there are socks that were maybe only worn once and are perfectly fine socks.  They just don't have the tags on them anymore.  Do you think I could donate these to Goodwill or a homeless shelter or something?  I mean, people need socks and there are nothing wrong with these socks...I just hate to throw them away is all.

Re: Question about socks...

  • I'm sure a shelter would love to have them! Goodwill may or may not take them.
  • I've seen underwear at goodwill.  I always wondered who was poor enough that they had to buy used undies, although later I learned there is a market (ew ew ew).  IIRC, they had bags with socks in them (like 3 pair for $1, or something).
  • I've seen bins of socks at nearly every Goodwill I've ever been to.  As long as it's not consignment, I'm sure they'd take your donation.  Homeless shelters would be a great place to take them, too, especially with winter at our heels.

  • I could have sworn I had seen bins of socks when shopping at Goodwill. I am glad you ladies confirmed I wasn't crazy. I haven't had a chance to just stop in recently. I will take them there or a homeless shelter. :)
