Who has tried Spanx?

And do they work?? Looking for something to help suck in some of that um.....lovely post baby weight that is still hanging on like a tire around my middle. We have a wedding coming up and would like something like this to help me out a little bit:) Other recommendations welcome. And I don't want to spend a fortune. Of course.

Re: Who has tried Spanx?

  • I have some that I used for my wedding..

I like that it SMOOTHs everything out. and holds you in

  • I used them for my wedding and occasionally now too.  When you pull them out of the package, they look impossibly small but they do indeed smooth you out.
  • I also have used them and love them; however, I was in a wedding this summer and couldn't use them without looking like I had back fat.  It distributes your body and it just didn't look good with my Bridesmaid dress.  I would HIGHLY suggest that you try it on with your dress before the big day.
  • I've worn em twice for two weddings as a bridesmaid, I liked them.  That being said if I hadn't been a bridesmaid I wouldn't have worried about it and just gone as is :-)

  • I have some.  They are the style that look like biker shorts that smooth your bum and hug in most of your tummy area.  They are a little tricky to get on - they are much less stretchy than a pair of control top panty hose.

And a word of warning....if you have a little too much to drink (like I did at my cousin's wedding) they become QUITE tricky to get back on just right after you go to the bathroom.  Embarrassed

My friend combines the shorts with a tank and it seems to hold everything in.  But yes....your body needs to go somewhere, it doesn't just disappear.  :-)

  • For my wedding I tried Spanx but ended up going with a combination of two Hanes brand pieces.  I had one that was like shorts that overlapped with one that was like the bodice of a corset with wires in it.  I really felt that they did what I needed them too better than the Spanx brand.  The best thing was that I was able to manipulate the shorts in the restroom without messing around with the top part.  As a bonus it was cheaper for both pieces at Target than one Spanx and Cacique, and I can now wear one or the other depending on the outfit.

Bottom line though, try them on before buying.
