Recommend a financial planner?
DH and I are finally both working (!!!yay!!!) and now I feel like were at a place where we need some financial guidance. Does anyone use a planner you trust, preferably in the south/southwest metro. We don't make that much, so an advisor might work for us as well.
TIA!

A little over a year ago I read Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover book. It took a while to get my husband on board and then we took Dave's class at our church called Financial Peace University this past spring. Now I am facilitating the class right now.
You can get pretty far on your own with those resources, as well as his website. If you're looking to begin investing or other services like that or insurance needs he also has endorsed local providers you could get in touch with. His requirements are that these people have the heart of a teacher and teach you about what you're investing in and why, not just sell you something to make them money.
We both definitely feel like we're in a good place financially, on the right track, and our marriage has improved due to our increased communication regarding our finances. We're still in Baby Step 2, well on pause actually since I am pregnant, but we have enough saved up that hopefully as long as everything goes smoothly with delivery and maternity leave etc. that we'll be able to pay off our debt right after the baby arrives and move on to the rest of the baby steps. (Baby steps are a reference to his financial plan, outlined in his book or on his website)
His website is www.daveramsey.com
You can also get the first hour of his radio show on podcast for free, or stream online thru his site during the show hours. I get all 3 hours and load it on my little ipod shuffle and that's pretty much all I listen to in my vehicle. LOL
If you wanted to, you could find an FPU class in your area and attend the first class for free to check it out.
