Would you recommend it? Which hospital did you go to? I delivered my first at Skiff via c-section (I would not go into labor no matter what we did) and they don't do VBACs, but I'd really like to attempt to have a vaginal delivery. What is your experience with it, and where did you go for your OB care? TIA
Re: If you had a VBAC
Hi! I haven't had a VBAC but I work with individuals who are. A couple are having a homebirth VBAC with Sheryl Puderbaugh, who is very experienced in performing VBACs. I also know that the Iowa Health Midwives will be performing VBACs starting in 2012. There are several OB/GYNs who will perform VBACs, as well.
I HIGHLY suggest you check out an International Cesarean Awareness Network (ICAN) meeting. The ladies there are very in the loop when it comes to VBAC stuff, plus they are a great support group. MrsTice goes to the meetings, so she might have more info for you.
Also, Diane Tinker and Meghan Day Suhr teach a VBAC course that I've heard is fabulous. They are both doulas in the Des Moines area who are very well-versed on VBACs.
And, of course, I suggest getting a doula. :-)
If you would like any articles or information or additional information on VBACs, let me know, I'd be more than happy to send you what I have.

I'm no help. I'm not even pregnant again but since the day I had K I've been thinking of a VBAC because I feel jipped. After 4 doses of Cytotec, Cervadil, and 4 hours of Pitocin, I couldn't even get dilated to 1. I don't even know what a contraction feels like. I know that sounds dumb, but As a women I feel the need to know how it feels so I can help K when she has a baby of her own.
Anyway, how old is your oldest?
Nevermind, just saw your sig. We have LOs around the same age!! We should do a baby play date sometime!
I highly, HIGHLY recommend going to an ICAN meeting if you have had a previous cesarean, even if you are planning a scheduled 2nd. I cannot stress enough how wonderfully informed and supportive these women are. They are very welcoming to newcomers. You can bring little ones to the meeting if you need to.
Their website (www.icaniowa.com) has a great message board, and check out their facebook page too (http://www.facebook.com/pages/ICAN-of-Central-Iowa/8623939231)
There are a LOT of women from the DM area who have had wonderful hospital VBACs in Iowa City.
Pushed by Jennifer Block is a good book to read.
I'm not on this board every day, but page me or email me if you have questions. mamastrength at gmail
