I'm kind of sad that not many people celebrate here, Genna was only one of 2 kids at her daycare who was dressed up! Oh well. My mothers group is having a party tonight for the kids, but we won't make it back from work in time - bummer.
I hope everyone has a great halloween though!!!

It's the same here! It's getting a little more popular, but mostly with young single adults who dress up to go out to the clubs, but most people couldn't care less. It's rare to see people dressed up on Halloween, and the international school my kids attend don't celebrate it at all.
The only saving grace is that there is a neighborhood up north, surrounding the Singapore American School where lots of Americans live, and a few blocks always do trick or treating. It's a huge deal, and all of the American kids go up there for it. It gets really crowded, but the kids are so excited!
Happy Halloween! I didn't dress Benjamin up as anything but I did put his jack o lantern leg warmers on, his orange cloth diaper and an orange shirt.
In August my mom sent 3 boxes here, 2 of which took over a month to arrive. One sat in Chicago for about 3 weeks and the other was en route for 3 weeks. Once they finally did arrive in Australia they were delivered within 3 days. So don't lose hope if the tracking seems to say the same thing for way too long.

Halloween is lost on Europeans...we went to a "Halloween" party at a pub on Saturday night, the girls were dressed in scary witch costumes.... don't they know it's not a holiday to dress scary but a holiday to dress a slutty version of your favorite occupation/children's story character/ etc?!
There's definitely no trick or treating going on either

Happy Halloween! It's not celebrated locally but there are enough expats that the clubs do parties, last Friday were all the Halloween brunches, and Halloween parties abound. Trick or treating is done on base, though.
BabyD was supossed to wear his kilt again for the school trick or treat parade on base. Except.... He told the teacher his foot hurt, they looked, saw a rash, called me, I went to medical, and now we are home. Hand, foot, mouth disease (and chicken pox and lice) have been going through school so it's very much ere on the side of caution right now. Although my gut says he does have hand, foot, mouth disease and I'm just hoping it's a mild case. No fever right now, he's eating fine, but we'll have to wait and see.
I'm nervous for because adults can get this disease, can get really sick from it, and that would be dangerous for the baby. There will be lots of hand washing and finger crossing going on.

Aussie ladies, sometimes packages here just seem to take forever, so don't lose hope, they may show up!
I have definitely noticed Halloween getting more popular here. Its certainly not as big as in the US, but my first year living here there was nothing. Now I see some decorations in the stores and some of the kids in my class were talking about trick or treating.
Two years ago when we lived in our old house we had a ton of trick or treaters, I did buy a bag or 2 of candy but it wasn't enough and I had to rummage through the cupboards for things to give out! I doubt we will have any this year as we live on a battle axe and people don't really come down the driveway.
Happy Halloween! Surprisingly, I miss it this year, for the first time in 10 years.
I hope to be in the States next year (DH doesn't know that I want to be home for Halloween AND Thanksgiving next year.) But, I had a friend who had a fab Halloween idea here in Germany. She went around to a bunch of her neighbors a few weeks before Halloween, explained "Trick or Treating," and brought them some candy to give to her son. She said that they had a pretty good experience trick or treating. My hope is that our next door neighbors have a LO that is about a year older than ours will be, and they love the States, so I am hoping that we can do something together. That's just my hope, we'll see what happens!

because that means they are participating in handing out candy
