Home/Flood Insurance

Hello,

Can anyone recommend a great website that can find me a good company and best price, one stop shop ! Also, do we need to provide before closing?

Thanx,

Rita

Re: Home/Flood Insurance

  • Call a local insurance agency, there's likely not a website that will do it with customized information for your area.  You'll need to provide proof of insurance (called a binder) at close.

  • Yes.  You will need insurance coverage to close.

Flood insurance is a national governmental program.  Your insurance agent is just a third party to work through.  The cost of flood insurance will be the same with any company.

As far as pricing your Home policy, no one site can guess another company's actual quote.  Those commercials that claim to be able to compare rates are a little misleading.  They can guess but can't give a real actual quote.  (rating factor and equations are proprietary).

Call whoever insures your autos and start there.  You will more than likely get a discount on your cars and your home for having the policies in the same place.  The discount on autos can be upwards of 20%.
