Re: October Discussion: Feed
Sadly I'm still only about 60% through the book, but I'm glad your first question is about their relationship. Maybe something happens at the end, but I keep waiting for them to start making out or something.
So far I'm interested in the book - It's definitely not a book I would have picked up on my own to read. I don't generally like books set in the future and I'm not into zombies (although I do like the tv show The Walking Dead). That being said...I'm liking it! So maybe I do like zombies.
We were joking about the zombie apocalypse this weekend at my parent's house as my Dad has a bunch of swords. Pat and I said their house would be the first we'd head to in order to arm ourselves!

2012 Reading Challenge
What was your overall impression of the book? I was quite excited to start reading this book. I love zombies and anything horror related that's not too cheesy. I went into this sort of knowing it wasn't your typical zombie book (this is only my second zombie book) but wasn't sure what to expect exactly. Overall I wasn't too impressed. I was bored halfway through and kept waiting for the action parts to hit. They were there but few and far between. I prefer World War Z to this book.
How did you feel about the relationship between Georgia and Shaun? I thought their relationship was a little odd at first. I started thinking incestious but of course they aren't related (I don't think) so that's not the case. After awhile I started realizing they were just extremely close and in a chaotic world all they had was each other so their closeness didn't creep me out anymore.
What did you think about their adoptive parents? I thought they're parents were total douchebags and in it all just for a story, ratings, and money. I was so irked by them. After their son died they lost all compassion for others. No wonder George was so bitter in her ways.
What are your thoughts on Buffy and her betrayal? I was not expecting this at all. I thought whoever was giving up the secrets was a security guard. Buffy seemed so sweet and airheaded that it was hard to believe she betrayed Shaun and George the way she did.
Did you enjoy the political aspect of the book? I thought the political aspect was interesting but I think this was one reason I had a hard time getting into the book.
What about the blogging aspect? It was an interesting take seeing that the world was a different place than it is now. I can see why blogs are so huge in the book. People are scared to go out so the only way they can get info is via TV and the computer.
What did you think about the way the author explained the reason for the outbreak? Do you think something like that is possible? I enjoyed the way the author explained the reason for the outbreak. The vaccine was a genius idea to throw out there. Honestly, I have no clue if something like this could happen. It seems possible but I know nothing about that type of thing.
Will you read the next book, Deadline? Maybe, but not anytime soon.
And the big question of the day....are you ready for a zombie apocalypse? Do you have a plan in place? Although we joke and talk about zombies attacking we don't really think it will happen. It's fun to joke about though. It does bring to light the fact that in any emergency event there should be a plan in place though.

How did you feel about the relationship between Georgia and Shaun? I kept thinking that there was going to end up being more between them than just adoptive brother and sister. In a way that creeped me out, but it also just seemed like it would be natural. They were super dependent on each other. So much so that I figured Shaun was going to kill himself after he had to shoot Georgia.
What did you think about their adoptive parents? I feel like they were exploiting Shaun and Georgia in a way. They did not seem like that adopted them for the right reasons. I think they are the main reason Shaun and Georgia were so dependent on each other.
What are your thoughts on Buffy and her betrayal? It made me mad that she was a part of it. I think she was very naive in many ways, which led her to do that. Maybe the author was trying to portray the sector of the population that follows religion so far that they end up being cruel? I don't know.
Did you enjoy the political aspect of the book? Yes, I think this was the best part of the book. I liked how I could draw parallels between the political themes in the book and how things are today in a non zombie world. What about the blogging aspect? I though that was really interesting, too, how that was pretty much how news was made. It really is a scenario that I can see happening in the future.
What did you think about the way the author explained the reason for the outbreak? Do you think something like that is possible? I'll admit that I thought this part was super boring and didn't fully understand it. But, I don't really think it's possible or that it would happen in our society. I'm no scientist, though.
Will you read the next book, Deadline? Probably not. There was a preview at the end of the copy Kasi sent me and it didn't really grab me.
And the big question of the day....are you ready for a zombie apocalypse? Do you have a plan in place? Lol! No plan. I've never given zombies and realistic thought. Is that something people really think could happen?

What was your overall impression of the book? EHHH - I think zombie books aren't my style. I was sucked in but I don't plan on picking up the next book in the series.
How did you feel about the relationship between Georgia and Shaun? borderline inappropriate. I love my brother and would fight for him in any situation but you also couldn't pay me to stay in a room with him if I had the option of my own room. I too kept waiting for them to make out or something
What did you think about their adoptive parents? I was not a fan. Way to use your children to further yourself ... don't worry about their sanity or safety.
What are your thoughts on Buffy and her betrayal? I kinda saw it coming. I don't know why I think the author did a pretty good job at hiding it. I just suspected it. I don't like tha tshe did it though.... but it shows that everyone has a price... but what was hers?
Did you enjoy the political aspect of the book? INot particularly. I thought it was interesting that they were following the "future president" but I could have done without the details.
What about the blogging aspect? It thought it was so interesting that blogs took such a huge control over regular news.
What did you think about the way the author explained the reason for the outbreak? Do you think something like that is possible? I thought it was a pretty good explanation. As far as zombies go I think it is the most realistic way it could happen... though I dont think it will.
And the big question of the day....are you ready for a zombie apocalypse? Do you have a plan in place? Absolutely not.

What was your overall impression of the book? I really liked this book, it was a different on zombie, at first I thought it was going to be more about the zomibes but it was about the characters.
How did you feel about the relationship between Georgia and Shaun? I think I would be really close to my brother if I had parents like that. They were the only people that each other could really trust and depend on.
What did you think about their adoptive parents? Their children were accessories to their fame, I'm sure they cared for them but not the way real parents should.
What are your thoughts on Buffy and her betrayal? It was disappointing but I saw it coming, it really showed that you get more than you baragained for when you make a deal with the devil.
Did you enjoy the political aspect of the book? I am interested in politics, not as much now as I used to be, I follow not but it's hard to not be discouraged but the BS that is going on. I enjoyed this because I would follow in an abstract way.
What about the blogging aspect? I thought it was interesting, we can see now what effect social media has and it would be even more important during a situation like this.
What did you think about the way the author explained the reason for the outbreak? Do you think something like that is possible? I thought it was realistic, I could see it happening.
And the big question of the day....are you ready for a zombie apocalypse? Do you have a plan in place? Our zombie plan is to go where my parents are, at the first hint of zombie, I'm packing the car and heading there, it's 17 miles off the coast and I doubt zombies can swim that far and it will be easy to kill any that are there.
