Snow PIP

Almost 23 inches...

Luckily, we still have power. I hope everyone else does too!

  • Here's another picture. The trees in my backyard are almost touching the ground.

    23 inches? In October? WTF?!

  • Wow! We only got maybe a 1/2 inch & it only stuck in certain places, like my back deck. We lost power overnight at some point, but it's back on now.

  • I'm in the Gardner area. When I looked out the window this morning I could not believe how much snow we got. So much for the 6 to 10 inches we were supposed to get!

jen, I'm glad you have your power back! I have a lot of friends and family about 20 minutes east of here that are still without it!

  • Holy crap!

We have probably an inch or so, which I thought was too much for this time of year!  It's so weird that most of the trees still have leaves and a lot of them haven't even changed colors yet.

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

    I concur.

My family lives in western MA, and they're being told it'll take 3-7 days to get power back. Apparently, it's really bad out there.  None of them lost power during the tornadoes or the hurricane, but this storm just killed them all.

Oh that sucks, 5KC.  I always think it's weird how in a state as small as ours that the weather and its effects can be so vastly different across areas.

  • Wow, I can't believe you got 23", that's insane.

We only got 6-8" and we're still without power. It is supposed to be back today but I'm sure we'll have to toss everything in the fridge.

  • 23 inches?!!? Wow!

We probably got 4-6 inches but are still without power. It went out sometime Saturday night (we were out and when we came home it was out) and I think tomorrow might be the earliest before we get it back on. It's like Hurricane Irene deja vu - thank goodness our heat still works though.

  • That is ridiculous.  I'm glad your power stayed on.  We just got a few inches and lost a few tree limbs.  We're lucky they all landed in safe spots in the yard, not on cars or the house or power lines.  Our power went out overnight but we were in bed anyway and it came back in the morning so it didn't matter much in the end.

  • Ugh, sorry to you ladies without power.  I hope it comes back on for you today!  I think I'd go stir crazy sitting around in the dark.  On the upside, I'd probably go to bed earlier and actually get a decent night's sleep!

  • wow!  We only got about 4 inches, most of it has melted already, but we haven't had power since sometime Saturday night.  NGrid is saying worst case is it won't be back until Thursday night, but we'll see.  I'm hoping it will be more like today or tomorrow - I can make it another night if I have to, but the temp in our house will start getting too low if it's longer than that!  (It was 54 this morning)

  • I was up this weekend and Worcester got maybe a foot or so.  I definitely left my brand new awesome snow boots at home in PA and was really pissed.

CT was a mess driving home yesterday.  Power outages, trees everywhere, and no cell phone reception pretty much the whole drive through.  I had to get off 84 twice for gas because the first stop had no power.  The second place was pure insanity.

  • Yeppers, National Grid website says our power will be back Thursday night!!!  Thank god we have a fireplace, and hot water...but that's it.  And all the food in the fridge will be trash.....blah!

This is going to be a long week!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh that's awful! My mom is actually thinking of coming to stay with us for a couple of days.  They lost power around 3 o'clock on Saturday, so the house hasn't had any heat since then. She said she's freezing. The only problem, I guess, is finding an open gas station - none of the pumps are working, because there's no electricity. They said it's worse than the tornado out there. Unreal.

We drove around yesterday, Grafton, Upton, and then to Worcester.  Trees are down everywhere, damage is worse than when the hurricane hit.  It's surreal.

  • Hope everyone is staying safe and warm and your power is back on soon!

I guess we're really lucky in my area, we got a ton of snow as you can see but there were no power outages. My work is about 25 miles east of me and I was really surprised to see how many branches and trees were down when I drove in this morning. Its like a whole other world.

if it helps, that was a blanket, worst-case, estimate for them.  If you look at their outage map, basically every area says the same thing.  There will be towns back up sooner than that!

  • Wow! That's a lot of snow!

I can't believe the damage. We didn't get more than an couple of inches, but there are still trees and power lines in all of the roads.
