Normal reaction to baby oatmeal?

Colby started oatmeal just over a week ago.  This is the first solid we've tried.  He's now got loud and stinky farts, in addition to fairly smelly poops.  I fully expected his poops to change with food, but the flatulence has me wondering if I should be continuing with it.  I looked up the symptoms of an allergy - a skin rash - which he doesn't have, but is the gas expected with the introduction of solids?

  • Yes, it's normal.

  • I would think that's probably pretty normal.  Way more fiber than he's used to getting, I'm sure.  Maybe just scale back and give him less at a serving or less frequently if he seems uncomfortable until he gets used to it?

This. His gut is getting used to new things and making it work differently.
