how to clean tile floors

We are redoing the flooring in our house and will now have a lot of tile....what is the best (and easiest) way to clean it? Currently I use a regular vaccuum on the carpet, a smaller vaccuum, along with a foam headed mop, or a Mr. Clean one with the replaceable pad when I'm in a hurry.  Thanks!

  • We have a shark and I love that, you just need to make sure to vacuum well before.

  • Sweep or vaccuum first.  Then mop.
  • Do they make a shark, or anything, that does the vaccuum and mopping all in one??

Im pretty sure there is one that does both but not at the same time so you still have to vacuum then mop.

  • The shark long term caused the grout to dirty a lot faster for us because it doesn't pick up the water. We switched to the Hoover floor mate and it steams the floor and picks up the dirty water. I still every 3 months with bleach clean the white grout with a tooth brush.
  • My grout is dark gray, so I have no trouble with the shark.

Our grout is brown, so that shouldn't be a problem. But thanks.

  • I HIGHLY recommend sealing the grout. It is a little tedious, but SO worth it. Especially with a kid. My mom sealed hers and never has to worry about cleaning it.... me, I am on my hands and knees every couple of months. Every time that I clean it, I tell myself that I am going to seal it and never do. FWIW, ours is brown too.... you can still tell when its dirty.

  • I will be sure to tell H this.  He originally was planning on it, but once he got the bathroom grouted he said that he didn't think it was necessary to seal it since it was so dark.  I WILL NOT be on my hands and knees scrubbing it :)
