iPad Owners - Question

So we think that we might get an iPad for Christmas this year.  My question is...We do not have Verizon or AT&T for our current cell service.  So we'd have to get a seperate plan for the iPad.  Which plans do you have and do you have any suggestions?

Currently Verizon's website lists: 2GB = $30/month 5GB = $50/month and 10GB = $80/month.

Thoughts, tips, suggestions?  TIA!

  • We have the wifi ipad which is great because we mostly just use it at home where we have wifi. If we take it on the road or something we usually load movies on it to watch. They are fun!

  • I just got the wifi pad as well and it works for us just fine.

  • My cousin had to get a plan through VZW for his iPad. I think he does the $50/mth.
  • Through my office/job, I use an iPad2 with WiFi + 3G through Verizon -- and I love it.  Though I do use the WiFi whenever it's available, I *love* having the 3G option when we are on the road and want to use the functionality for online maps, finding a restaurant, checking e-mail, looking up movie times, etc.  I've also used it a number of places (for work) when the WiFi wasn't available or was for purchase only.

I think mine is a 3 GB plan -- and I only used 1 GB each of the past few months (since I use the WiFi instead of 3G when available).  I'm told that if you don't stream a lot of movies or other things that use a LOT of data, you should be fine with the 2GB plan.

Hope Santa is good to you!  :)

  • Thanks eveyone!  We have wifi at home so that is not a problem but I like the option of being able to use it anywhere, car trips, etc but don't know if it's worth the extra expense.  Thanks again for your thoughts and suggestions!!
