secu vs. jhfcu

Between my husband and I were eligible for either one...and I think I'm ready to move from M&T and Bank of America...anyone have positive negative experiences to share about these credit unions

I bank with jhfcu and never had any issue with them. The only thing I'd complain about is they do not have many branches. I believe they only have four and they're all located in the city. But they do let you use M&T ATMs without incurring ATM fees.

I used to work and JHFCU and still use them for our vehicle loan. My only complaint other then the fact that they have only 3 locations is that it takes forever for them to credit our payment. We have it debited from our BOA account with the set arrival date to JHFCU on the due date and it sometimes takes a week to be credited. They do not have it set up for electronic transfers in like all the other companies we pay. They are just a little behind on technology.

i use SECU, no issues, been with them 11 years now. We have an ATM in my office so I have access to cash all the time, which is both good and bad.

When I started working at Hopkins I was going to switch to JHFCU but I stuck with Bank of America. It's way more convenient and when we bought our house BOA had a better mortgage rate than my H's CU anyway. They have branches all over the place, their ATMs are fancy as hell with the deposit system, and it's just overall really convenient to have everything in one place.

SECU has those fancy ATMs too, I can deposit checks without an envelope into my account.

I think that Mars has SECU atm's at them, there are a bunch of branches around, clearly not as many as a big bank like BOA.

I have a SECU account and my only complaint is that they don't do online transfers. I used to have them as a 2nd checking account, with a car loan and that was easy transfer. They started charging for checking if you didn't have your whole check direct deposited, so I cancelled that and kept the savings account. As a whole, I like them, I just get better service and rates at my other CU.

Hmm. I need to check my account because I have half my check put into SECU and the other half goes to BOA. NOt sure that I have any fees charged.
