Consignment stores (kid stuff/maternity)

I have not been impressed with the two I've been to in my area (SWOKC/Moore). Does anyone have any recommendations for elsewhere in OKC/Norman/Edmond? Google's not helping too much.

Admittedly, I'm pretty snobby about the quality of the stuff, but I do like when I can score the occasional sweet deal.

ETA: Don't worry, I know not to purchase certain baby items used.

Re: Consignment stores (kid stuff/maternity)

  • I've never been super impressed with the consignment stores either because I feel like I get better prices shopping sales at the end of the season and then the kids get new stuff so they can put their own holes and stains in them :)  With that said, I have friends who love Once Upon a Child on 104th and Western and Uther Muthers on 89th and Western.  There are also consignment sales like JBF, Klassy Kids, etc that people rave about.

  • I've never shopped any consignment stores and I intended on going to the JBF sale but didn't get around to it, I just get stuff on sale and use coupons :). We get BRU coupons pretty frequently, so that helps when we have something specific we're wanting/needing.

PS how are you practically 18 weeks already??

PSS are you going to find out the sex? I'm nosey Stick out tongue

I tend to agree with your line of thinking on this. I did find a BOB stroller at one store that was a great price and in good shape, but it was not a model we would want. So I'm on the lookout for stuff like that at consignment stores, garage sales, and Craigslist. Thanks for the tips! I haven't been to either of those places.

How do I get on the BRU coupon train? I don't think we're registering there.

    re: 18 weeks...I know. It's crazy!

re: the sex...yes!!! Nov. 7 Smile I will for sure make an announcement.

  • I like JBF but I will only go if I can get into the 20 hour volunteer sale, there were less than 50 people and after seeing the deals to be had before the "public" I am spoiled.  I would watch Craigslist for the nicer end stuff.

BRU - sign up for their mailing list and you will be overloaded with coupons.  I think I have three 20% off coupons right now.

Really?! I haven't ever volunteered 20 hours, but now you're making me think it's worth it! I usually volunteer the minimum allowed to shop earlier than the public. Were you the first group allowed to shop?

  • There is one off Memorial and Penn... I forget what it's called. It's in the same shopping center as Radio Shack. I went there once, it was alright.

This one is no longer there...   :(

Like Bri said, sign up on BRU's mailing list. I'm pleasantly surprised by how many coupons we receive. Also, if you won't be BF'ing make sure you sign up on the website of the brand of formula you'll use. Great way to save $$. I'll be impatiently waiting for your announcement next week. I'm guessing girl Wink.

I didn't really shop for clothes ( I was after toys and gear) and I was thrilled!  I wanted another Bumbo ($7, like brand new) and some stuff to encourage walking.  I also bought B's Halloween costume ($50 everywhere online, $10 like brand new) and a few things, like the orange Gymboree cord jumper...  $3.  :)

My steals....  An OSU cheerleader outfit, Nike brand so not especially cheap -$2 and a Fisher price toy that sells for $200 on Amazon - $15.

I will do the 20 hour volunteer thing again because yes, I was the first group through the door.
