What do you do to entertain yourself when the power's out?
peeper's snow post and the replies about not having power got me thinking. When you lose power for days on end, what do you do to entertain yourself?
It's been a rough year weather-wise around these parts and we haven't even started winter yet!
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

Re: What do you do to entertain yourself when the power's out?
Well yesterday was the only day time hours we haven't had power. But we needed to shovel, we went out to lunch, and my parents still had power so we went there for the evening. So we didn't spend too much time at home during the day.
We played a few games of cribbage, but otherwise we were either doing chores or out.
There's always reading and I love puzzles.
During the icestorm we had a few years ago the power was out at our house for about 5 days. I know we spent the first day doing damage control and chiseling out of all the ice and the second day I kept the fire going while H was at work. The rest of the days I think we spent checking on family and ended up staying at H's parents house when their power came back on.
Anyway, I remember doing a lot of reading and playing games on my laptop, we dove around to see the damage in other areas. I'm sure I did quite a bit of napping too.
Hmmm.
Wondering if MA isn't going to have record high August 2012 babies?
I was thinking along the same lines
We have never lost power for an extended period of time, until now, and most people we know are also still out. So we have gone to my mother's house where she has heat and hot water.
Hope you're all holding up OK, LadyE!
My mother's house is like a bottomless pit of baby dangers. She is only a mile down the road from us, so I don't know why she had power and we were without for days, but I'm happy to be back home.
Glad you're back home!
My family is still without power. (Or heat.) My mom was going to drive up here yesterday to stay, but her office decided to open today for some reason. But at least she'll be able to charge her cell phone and warm up a bit. According to a friend's FB update, a fight broke out at a gas station yesterday (only a handful are open). I hope they get power back soon, because people are seriously on the verge. The only consolation is it isn't Februrary and -3 degrees out.
