Post your RUDE trick or treater stories here!!

I have a few!!

#1) I waited til about 8:15-8:20 to turn my lights off and lock my door. The trick or treaters had significantly slowed down so I figured it was late enough anyway. right around then, the doorbell rang and I figured what the heck, so I answered it.

the two kids peeked into the bowl and I guess they assumed the jolly rancher sticks were taffy and both yelled "can we have taffy!!" I said, sorry I have none... and the boy (aged prob around 9-10) LOUDLY  what the hell this sucks (I also think he thought I was just not giving him taffy).... his sister yelled to him as they ran away "dont be mean" -- so I yelled out my door -"dont' come so late next time"

#2) at 9:15 - yes, 9:15 my bell rang, then they knocked, then the bell rang... and another knock. Um... lights out, not giving you candy. Step off.

And someone else knocked around 9:30... a little late, no?

  • In my area they banned trick or treating after dark because of all the down power lines and trees everywhere and we were told to not answer the door after dark :)

I was at my parents house with A for a little, and while we were there a group of about 10 kids came to the door. I started handing them all the goody bags my Mom had made up. One kid (about 7 I'm guessing) takes the bag and says "what's inside that bag?" I reply "candy." He takes the bag and throws it back at me and runs. Really rude but I couldn't stop laughing.

  • Nothing too bad.  Most of the kids were actually quite polite.  Just the occasional kids complaining that they want a different flavor/color of whatever it is I just gave them.  My parents would have killed us if we dared to say anything other than "thank you" to someone giving us free stuff.

  • Most were fine.  I did have one kid (I'd guess he was like 8 or 9) accept the candy I gave him and then reach back in the bowl for more while I was giving to the other kids.  I think I just stared in amazement and then the mom saw and yelled at him.  I was surprised to have 1 adult woman come by herself.  She was foreign (had an accent) and was wearing like a beige sweatsuit with a mask.  I still gave her a piece of candy but def thought wtf.
  • It's not a rude story, but an interesting one.  We were going around our condo complex yesterday afternoon (myself, A, my niece and my neighbor & her son).  A lot of people leave containers outside with candy & a sign to take a few.  Well we come upon this one unit that has a really cute set up outside with pumpkins and lots of buckets of candies for the kids to choose from.  However...here's the kicker.  Inside the buckets were lots of UNWRAPPED candy and random items.  They had individually wrapped breakfast muffins, apples, oranges packaged mini marshmallows, and off to the side a TV tray with a huge pile of unwrapped pumpkin shaped marshmallows.

In this day & age with people so leery on halloween candy I found it odd that someone would leave out fruit & unwrapped items.   It was so weird and random that we threw out the few packaged things the kids picked up there immediately.

ETA:  oh and A got change from the old Italian lady that lives in our building. She gives out nickles every year.

  • Considering we had over 400 in 1.5 hrs.... It was quiet the blur! I think we had a few repeats (annoying!!!) but you can't prove it. We ran out before the whole two hours were up. We sometimes had a line of 20 kids.... Kids were leaving our line because it was too long!! Def crazy!

  • Most were good. The rudest thing I can think of were the repeat visitors.  I guess they liked the Rice Krispie treats we gave out. No problem we had leftovers.

I do think that the display of homemade stuff is weird. I remember as a kid getting ziploc bags of popcorn. Mom always taught us to toss them. She used to say "what if that mom doesn't wash her hands after using the bathroom?!" LOL.
