Potty Question

This has been asked a million times, but I never read the posts.

Which is better; a potty chair or potty ring that goes over the toilet?

DH thinks we need to get G a potty chair. She talks and asks about going pee or poop all the time. Tonight she asked to actually sit on the potty. I think she's just copying us, but we'll see.

I made a poll so it's easy to answer :-)

Re: Potty Question

  • I say both. A potty chair is nice when you are just introducing it and you put it in the middle of a room and let her play with it and run around naked. I think the ring is practical for a long time so they can comfortably sit, bit they get too long to sit on the baby potty chair, yet their little bums are too small they might fall in the toilet.

I agree. Ana learned on both. It also helps when out and about so that she isn't afraid of a big potty.

The one drawback to the ring is that it's etching the white off of our regular toilet seat but that's easily fixable later on.

  • I agree both are a good idea.  T used the potty chair at first because we made a big deal about it when the music went off.  But I would never let him #2 in it.  So now just used to big botty with out a ring.

  • I agree- both.  Kade loves to hear the music, however one of my new "mommy raves" is the toilet seat I asked for for my birthday (I know right!?!?!).  I don't have to have a ring laying in my bathroom (which is already low on space) plus the potty chair.  I love it and so does K!  Ours is something like this-we got it at Home Depot and has soft close

  • We have both. We got the potty seat when Neena was around 18 months and she used it a couple times but lost interest, which was fine since I wasn't pushing potty training. Recently, she's been displaying more signs and was wanting to sit on the big toilet so we ended up getting the potty ring. She has since pooped in the toilet quite a bit (still no pees!), and wants nothing to do with her original potty chair.

  • We got El a potty chair, that the ring will go onto the bit toilet. She loves to sit on it while I go potty or if H goes in there. She'll sit on it naked and what not, but no actual potting in the potty chair. But she knows that's HER chair.
