Hey saw your post below, did they put you on iron supplements? If so take them with a glass of OJ. Dh did a bunch of research and found that helped and once I started doing that I responded much better to the pills and my levels were somewhat normal for the rest of my pg. We found that for the amount of food you would have to eat to get what was in a pill was crazy! And I am a red meat eater anyways. Good luck. Now I will say I haven't had oj in about 8 months since I stopped taking the pills. I was kind of sick of it after downing a small glass everyday.
Re: kms34
No, they don't want to do supplements. I'm just below the cutoff so they want me to up my iron rich food intake first. I have a pretty bad history with constipation (you're welcome for that tidbit) so I'm glad they aren't pushing pills.
We dont' eat a lot of red meat (well, I don't) so I think that will help a lot. I've been trying to sneak spinach in too but...blech.
love is for every her, love is for every him, love is for everyone
Sorry, butting in...foods high in vitamin C (like orange juice) still helps you to better absorb the iron that is in food. Iron is something that I've put a lot of emphasis on since I quit eating meat.
Also, you can throw a couple of handfuls of raw spinach in a fruit smoothie and if you close your eyes (because it may turn it green), you can't even tell it's there! :-)
