So many downed trees/tree parts

YEA! Finally have internet (as of 2am last night, but posing at work)! We never lost power (woot!) but lost cable/internet for 2 days. Not a biggie and I'll take it over lost power. So thankful to have my iphone to stay on top of what is going on and to find out trick or treating is postponed to Sunday (yep Nov 6). Oh and was so nice to see that day care was closed from bed and being able to turn off my alarm yesterday.

We didn't loose any trees, just a lot of limbs. Looks like the fence held!

The neighborhood behind us, the developer put this really pretty spring blooming tree in front of every house. Yep almost all of them either broke or almost every limb broke. So all of them but 1-2 are coming down.

Re: So many downed trees/tree parts

  • We were pretty lucky too. Only had a flicker of electricity, no loss of anything. Last night we had BIL, BIL, SIL, MIL, FIL over for dinner and a shower since they are all out of power still. We lost some lilac trees and some limbs from the tree out by the intersection, which was blocking the stop sign anyway, so it worked out. I didn't realize Trick or Treat was rescheduled to Sunday until after I hacked away a bush that was blocking our front walkway. Not sure what that's going to look like when the snow melts. I'm sure the mailman appreciates it though.
  • Considering what it looks like around here it's shocking we never lost power.   There are just piles of branches and limbs everywhere.  Some areas postponed TOT b/c of downed wires and such.  My town didn't do that, but there is a lot of tree debris.  Most roads have at least one huge branch down in every single yard!
  • Things are a mess around here too... we lost power at 9pm on Friday night & finally just got it back at 4pm yesterday (thank god!)  My parents lost theirs too, so everyone had been camping out at my sisters'.  We were so grateful to have somewhere warm to be, but oh my god is it good to be home!!  (I think Mads was even more excited than the two of us to come home last night too.)

Our yard is a huge mess, lots of downed branches/limbs & small trees.  Luckily no damage to the house or cars though.  The town is a mess too- trick or treating was postponed until Friday & school was cancelled yesterday & today since most of the schools still didn't have power & the high school was being used as a shelter.  Crazy!
