Fun poll: What does your SO do that you just don't "get"?

I just can't understand my SO's choice in music. He's a self proclaimed music junkie, and knows just about every song ever made. He considers himself more of an eclectic music lover (Ryan Adams type stuff, and lots of bands I've never heard of), for the most part. But some of the more mainstream people he thinks are terrific musicians versus how he thinks others (ones I've mentioned I like) are terrible and should fall off the face of the earth.

Example: He thinks that Adele, Pink, and 3 Doors Down are some of the worst ever. But yet he loves Alanis Morisette, Sugar Ray, and Gin Blossoms and thinks they're all very talented.

He makes zero sense.

What about you? What do you just not "get" about your SO?

  • He eats Doritos with milk.  Ewww!

  • His love of Frank's Red Hot. I don't get how having your mouth on fire adds to the taste of foods.

I like it IN foods...like buffalo chicken dip or something like that. But to add it to foods? No thanks! I like to keep my tastebuds lol

No, he just eats them together.  No dunking or cereal making, lol!

Another thing is that the different foods on his plate can't touch each other.  I don't mind at all when that happens.

  • He doesn't like to plan, which is the exact opposite of me. It's taken some getting used to, I've had to learn to let go a little bit and he's learned to please the crazy planner lady a little bit.

    ME TOO!!!

Things I don't get about BF: He's Canadian.  Stick out tongue  His devotion to his car (all sorts of after-market upgrades, spending lots of time cleaning, polishing, etc., and buying all the equipment needed to make it nice and sparkly).  His choice in movies (bad action and sci-fi).  His hatred of tomatos.

That is totally me.  And I eat all of one thing before moving onto the next--I can't eat a bite of this and a bite of that.

So, can he eat a casserole when all the foods are mixed together? I've always wondered that about people who hate their food touching/mixing on their plates.

He can eat a casserole.  He's just like UDScoobychick described-   he eats all of one thing before moving onto the next-- he can't eat a bite of this and a bite of that.  And he can't mix items on his plate, like even mashed potatoes and gravy.

And Scooby- my BF is Canadian too! LOL

I may or may not have gasped when I read this. I was going to say that's totally un-American, but I guess that's ok given that he's Canadian! LOL

  • Sadly, I've probably rogered up more eccentricities than him.  His biggest one is that he needs the TV on in order to fall asleep, preferably a documentary on prehistoric animals, the history of military weaponry, or the solar system.  I think it's the narration that provides white noise for him versus the subject matter putting him to sleep (quite the opposite actually...he finds them interesting).  On the plus side, I've learned a lot about the sabre-tooth tiger, trebuchets, and the atmosphere of Jupiter.
    This is my siggy.

Do you usually stay up/awake later than him?

Sometimes.  Depends on what we're watching and how tired I am.

  • He has to have AA bateries to function.
  • He won't wear socks around the apartment or especially to bed even when his feet are freezing. Although he'll complain about being cold!

    Yes

  • I don't get a lot of things about him... lol. He says he hates cream cheese, but he loves crab rangoon and cheesecake. He says he hates coconut, but he loves pina coladas and coconut water (I know, go figure).

He's also a really really really terrible speller, bless him. I am constantly correcting him, and he just doesn't learn!

  • SO is the same way about his food touching. It is the strangest thing to me since it is going to the same place. He eats one thing at a time and he also doesn't eat vegetables except corn. He was looking at me like I had three heads the other night because I mixed my corn in my mashed potatoes.
