It's bad enough that we can't access FB, email like Gmail or Hotmail, YouTube, any site with "wine" in the name and a gazillion other sites at work. But now that Google upgraded its Reader yesterday, it's incompatible with the oldish version of Internet Explorer we use at work. (And no - there's no way I can install other software on the work computer. Big Brother doesn't allow that.) I'm pissed that there's yet another thing I can't keep up with during the day, and it actually had some work-related uses.
Does anyone understand what's been upgraded with the Google Reader? Is it just that it's linked to Google+? On my Mac at home, it just looks paler and harder to read.
Re: flipping Big Brother at work - gah
Google does offer secure server access to gmail and reader sooooooo you might be able to trick big brother- type in the URL as https://www.google.com/reader and it might give you access. FB has secure site too.
total nerd over here.
If only. So far it's just Google Reader and my hometown newspaper that are incompatible with this version of IE, and what I use the Google Reader for can be done in other ways that work with this version of IE. Plus, it takes weeks to convince IT security to act and in theory we're switching over to a different business unit's computer system at the end of the year (which is WAAAAAY more lenient!), so the current IT don't really care about us.
Victoria - I'll have to try the secure version of FB sometime. That would be totally sweet if the secure URL wasn't blocked. (But I suspect it is.) The Google problem isn't security access, so I don't think the secure site will work with this IE either.
