  • I think I'm the only person on EARTH who owned this book or liked it, but "Scarlett Monster Lives Here." It's about a friendly monster that moves into a new neighborhood and learns how to make friends.

Fancy Nancy are my favorite modern children's books.  The alphabet book is unbelievably hilarious if you don't have it yet.

  • I ditto the Brown Bear books and Hungry Caterpiller. The illustrations are wonderful. Goodnight, Moon is another good one.

My absolute favorite book as a kid is a book of poems by A.A. Milne (author of Winnie the Pooh) called "When We Were Very Young". Best book ever.

Congrats to both my TTC buddies, Amberley18 and sb2006 on their beautiful babies!
  • Henny Penny and Goodnight Moon were my favorites as a kid. All of the others are great suggestions, too. I'd also buy a book of Shel Silverstein's poetry. I love love Shel Silverstein, and poetry is suppose to be even better than books for reading to young children.
  • Thanks Ladies, we were looking for some good recs!!!

  • We have tons of books. Nate really loves lift the flap and touchy books. Anything by Karen Katz he's loving and he loves a book called Little Hands Love. Besides those, and the ones pp's have suggested, I absolutely love anything by Jan Brett. Her illustrations are fascinating. Especially for when she's older. I have a bunch of hers but I'm going to buy her version of The Night Before Christmas. Also I love reading Nancy Tillman books to him. They're very special and sweet. Also I love a book called If I Could Keep You Little but I can't remember the author. It's really cute. Sorry for the randomness. On my phone and 1ht
Baby, you've got the sort of eyes that tell me tales...

  • Everybody Poops. :)  You can't not have that in your collection.

And Kel, "I Love You Forever" IS creepy, though I admit it's still a tearjerker.  Some funny blog posts on how creepy it really is: http://www.waitinthevan.com/2011/02/character-assassination-carousel-love.html and http://justlinda.net/blog/?p=75

Tonia, I looked at the "If I Could Keep You Little" book on Amazon and I have to buy it for Kyler now.  It is so sweet.

  • Also not listed already, I love the Spot books and Corduroy. Matt loved Dr. Seuss books and Where The Wild Things Are (but that one might be a lot of monsters for lil' T :)
