don't know if anyone else saw this on the news last night but what a horrible story for everyone. a friend's sister saw this happen and said people were in hysterics around there and a ton of kids saw it too. They didn't know the whole story and had thought that the driver was drunk but the article doesn't make mention...
Re: sad story
The motor of a chainsaw can run without the chain on them... they do it at haunted houses all the time.

So, you try to scare the crap out of kids, knowing that cars drive way too fast in the area. Smart one.
I tend to agree with you Nancy - I love Halloween, but even I got a bit annoyed last night with some of the ADULTS who go a little overboard. Our neighborhood was full of little kids, the majority of them probably 2-10ish. We had some house with a "haunted garage" where they let kids go in an out (uh, no), and they also had a full fledged Michael Myers walking around the driveway, down the sidewalk, etc. It scared the pisss out of my little lady, and I spent the rest of the night explaining to her that things like that "arent real" because she was freaked out.
That makes me feel a smidge better, but I'm still not ok with Halloween. I never was and now with Owen and Amelie and seeing them get excited I get excited too, but before I just hated all of the crap that people did to each other. It just makes me uneasy.
We had a house like that in our neighborhood that did the garage haunted house & as soon as they saw us coming the adults ushered the teenagers that were doing the scaring into the garage. They thought I was going to have my boys go in & scare them, they wanted me too. Ummm, my kids are 3 and 5, I don't want them to have nightmares for weeks, no thanks!
Holy cow, we're going to have a little sister!!
