Sing Off 10/31 *spoilers*

I was a little surprised that they went home. I really enjoyed their performances and thought they were better than urban method and Delilah, for sure.

I wasn't all that impressed with either the Britney or Janet medleys, but I LOVED Queen and Elvis!

  • I was disappointed in Afro Blue last night. As for the Yellow Jackets, I enjoyed their rendition of "Uptown Girl," but otherwise thought they deserved to go home.

My new faves are Pentatonix -- thought they killed the Britney medley!

  • I feel like they've been trying to get rid of the Yellow Jackets for weeks now. And I think Queen is the perfect band for acapella groups. And I'm loving the judges as usual. Sarah and Ben complement each other perfectly.

  • I just watched it on my DVD. I also didn't like Afro Blu.  They didn't impress me this week.  I liked the Yellow Jackets and LOVE the Aires.  I hope they win.

  • Sorry I'm joining in late--I just watched on the DVR last night.  I thought that Urban Method and the Yellow Jackets were the bottom two last night.  Maybe it's because the YJ's have SO many members it's hard to come up with creative arrangements, but really, their Billy Joel medley was very ordinary, un-original and frankly, weak sounding.  With that many singing back-up, they really needed to have either a stronger/fuller voice do the lead or have two doing a melody-type lead.  I basically felt that way about Urban Method as well--while the ladies all have very pretty voices, they just aren't as full and deep sounding as some of the others.

While I don't love Pentatonix's style as much as some of the others (I'm more a traditionalist as far as a capella goes, so I love Vocal Point's style and arrangements) their arrangements and sound are always SO impressive.  It really amazes me there are only 5 people in that group because the songs always sound so "full"--as if there were 12 people on stage.  Plus, they take well known songs and make them their own, while keeping them recognizable, which is hard to do.  I think they would probably be the most bankable winners simply because they offer something different to the a capella genre than any of the past winners (or any of the other a capella groups that are already be under contract).

  • I can't stand Afro Blue. Every week I wish they would go home, but the judges love them.

    Yellowjackets needed to go though.
