I'm in need of shoe storage ideas.
The first level of our townhouse is walk-in (not underground) for both the front and back. There is a one-car garage we mostly use for storage. Alongside that is our separate front door and entry hall. At the end of the garage are the stairs to go up to the main level (living room and kitchen). Past that is the basement living area which we use as a family room. The stairwell is open to that family room, and along the right wall there are separate closets for utilities and the washer and dryer. We have a small bench with shoe storage and coat hooks at the foot of the stairs (so at the end of the hall next to the house to garage entrance). However, it's not enough so we were keeping shoes and coats in the garage.
Here comes the problem: I'm sick of cold coats and worst of all some of our shoes are getting moldy because the garage is so damp.
We don't wear shoes in the house, so I'd like to keep them all downstairs, but aside from the small bench, there's no other logical place to keep them all. The entry hall is very narrow, and there is no closet for coats or anything downstairs. And the wall to go upstairs is only a partial wall and has the bifold doors to the utility closet against it so we can't build a closet there.
Thoughts?

At the end of the hall, you can see the two closets off to the right: https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/229440_1031014730369_1075391436_30126458_9016_n.jpg
Thanks!
Re: Shoe storage ideas...
I am no good with measurements but a shoe storage cabinet like this may work. This one is from the container store.
Omg, I just looked at this website & I'm in love - thanks!
