I saw this on pinterest and would love to do it. (I know there are some nurses on the board, and one works in L&D but I can't remember who!)
They are premie smocks that work with the tubes and medical equipment that the babies need in the NICU. The pattern explains more, but basically they fit tiny babies and make parents feel more comfortable that their baby is wearing a outfit, rather than hospital gown/nothing.
I would love to make these and donate them to the NICUs. Would they use them? Do they need them? How do I go about doing this? Or would I just drop them off at the hospitals?

Re: Nurses, please come in!
Ya know I'm not exactly sure how you go about it but I would definitely call first and talk to someone before you go to all the trouble. I'm not sure who you should talk to. If anything you can call the NICU's at Mercy and/or Methodist and ask to speak with the charge nurse Just avoid 7, 11, and 3 (am or pm as that's shift changes).
On our floor if you were making these for our patients I would have you contact our CRN or our clinical resource nurse who is in charge of our volunteers/education etc. I dont know if the floors at Iowa Health have CRN's or what they call them there but that's what we call them at Mercy. They would/should be at least able to tell you who to get ahold of and how to go about getting these in the hospitals. I think it's very sweet.
There is also a perinatal hospice nurse at Mercy in Labor and Delivery. I could see them perhaps needing something like that for the infants that are going to require lots of care to help keep them comfortable in their short little lives. maybe not but I thought of that too when I was reading through this.
