QOTD Wednesday (Fall back)

How do you feel about the time change this weekend? Are you a fan of getting an extra hour of daylight in the morning, but losing an hour in the evening?

Re: QOTD Wednesday (Fall back)

  • No!!!! I get up early in the morning, and I still hate it. I'd rather get up in the dark and have an extra hour of daylight at the end of the day. It's just depressing to leave work when it's pitch black outside.

  • I don't really enjoy the shorter days. But I guess it won't make that big of difference to me. Since it still going to be dark when I put Baby Handy to bed and I want to go running.

It is sad to not be able to go to the play ground after we finish dinner.

  • I love getting up early when it's still dark out, and I also love that the dark in the morning has helped the LOs sleep. I'm not excited to think about what the time change could do to our sleep schedule next week.
  • I'm generally not a fan, but I haven't cared as much since having C because we're always inside eating dinner and getting ready for bed, regardless of how light it is. Before we used to run and walk the dogs and whatever after work, but now it's the same old grind every evening and we're rarely outside to enjoy the sunlight

Ooh. That sounds depressing - it wasn't meant to be!  Just that our evening routine depends less on daylight now!

  • Doesn't really bother me.  I mean, it's basically dark when I get to work and dark when I leave, and probably would be either way, so it's no real difference to me.

  • It's depressing to drive home at sunset (or after) when I leave my office at five, and it's not like the extra light in the morning will last for long as the days get shorter.  I'm just annoyed with the time change at all.  I'd rather stick to one schedule.  The days get shorter, so we're just postponing the inevitable.

Wow, that sounds super grouchy.  I have to deal with some issues this morning before posting more :P

  • I'll be pretty happy to have that extra hour on Sunday, but I do hate that it gets dark so early in the evenings.

  • I don't really mind it. I am having a really hard time getting out of bed in the morning lately because it's so dark, so I'll appreciate it being light in the a.m.

I have this problem too, so I like the fall back.

Also, I get up early to go to swim practice on Sunday mornings, so that extra hour of sleep will feel so luxurious!

  • I hate getting up in the dark, so I'll be happy not to do that, but I hate that it'll start getting dark at 4 PM.  Also, I have to drive west to go home, so it'll be straight into the sun the whole time.  Unless I leave work late--then it'll just be dark the whole time.  I'm dreading winter even more than usual this year because my office has no windows.  I think I might have to get a sun lamp.

  • It's not a big deal to me since it's getting to be that time of year at work where I'll be leaving late enough that it would be dark regardless.

It was so nice when we lived in Arizona because they don't do observe daylight savings time so I never had to remember to switch the clocks! Since we moved back to the East Coast, I almost always forget to do it.

  • Not really. I used to like it when I was in school and got an extra hour of sleep, but now that DS is here it's not like we even get that. It's already light when I wake up so the extra daylight doesn't really help in the morning, and I hate leaving work when it's already dark.

So I say, boo to daylight savings.

  • It doesn't bother me.  I get up late so it's not dark.  I prefer it to be dark eariler, sounds crazy but I get more stuff done for some reason.  I guess because i'm rushing around trying to beat the darkness?  I don't know.
  • I hate when it is dark at 5ish. So depressing. And, I feel like traffic is worse on the commute home.

This is my opinion on the fall back too.

  • I am actually looking forward to it. It is so hard to get up in the morning when it is still pitch black out, as well as it being dark almost all of the way into work. I am also looking forward to being able to ride into work again. It is entirely too dangerous when it is that dark out.

  • I'm not looking forward to it. I don't love getting up when it's dark, but I'd rather it be dark in the morning, than in the evening when I'm just getting home and trying to get the dog walked.
  • Not really looking forward to it.  My day begins at 4:30 when I get up for bootcamp and then ends at 6:30 at night when my "work day" is over.

I tend to hybernate more when it's dark out.

  • I just don't like the short days, period.  I miss light in the morning, it's hard to get out of bed when it is dark but I really love getting home when there is still light.  It's just so depressing otherwise.
  • Its dark when I leave and when I get home once the time rolls back an hour.  What I'm gonna really hate is that the fact my kid will probably be up super duper early!

  • No matter the time change it is still dark when I get for up work most days in the winter.  I would rather have the extra light in the evenings when I am bringing the kids home.  I finally have kids old enough that the time change should wreak total havoc in our house although it will be a pain to change their bedtimes by 15min each night for a few days.  Why can't we just leave the time be?
  • What would I do without QOTD???  I had no idea that DLS was this weekend!

Fall back depresses me.  Leaving the office at the end of the day when it is dark outside just seems wrong.

Call me super grouchy too. The days get shorter so eventually it's dark when you get up and when you get home. I especially miss after-dinner family walks or playing outside.

  • I like it. I am much more productive at night, so having night arrive earlier will increase how much I accomplish. Also, my poor husband is leaving for work in pitch blackness. I hope the switch helps his mornings be brighter.
  • I'm looking forward to the extra hour, as well as the sun rising earlier. I'm a bear in the morning anyway, but it's been even worse getting up when it's still dark out. With DST, I'll at least have a little more light in the morning. It sucks coming home in the dark, but it's not like I do much outside in the evenings anyway.

  • I'll be glad for more light in the mornings as I have a terrible time waking up in the dark. But I hate that it is dark when I leave work.

And I really hate driving home the Monday night after the time change, as that is a day with increased accidents.

  • I'm a fan.  I cant get up easily in the morning when it's dark out!
  • I'm mostly looking forward to it. Lately I've been going to bed around 11:30 which is way too late. Maybe now I'll go back to being tired at a more reasonable time!!

The only thing I hate about this time change is that the sun will start coming up and blinding everyone trying to go east on Rt 7. Every morning going toward Leesburg, there will be a place where everyone is going a nice, decent speed and then goes over a hill, sees the blinding sun and SLAMS on the brakes. To all the stupid drivers out there...get some sunglasses and let's all keep moving please!!!

  • I'm excited.  I leave the house at 6am, maybe it'll be light enough to see where I'm walking when I try to navigate the porch!
