cleaning my washing machine?

I've seen people ask about cleaning their washing machine before and thought it was weird. Hanging head in shame, I no longer think it is odd. My aggitator seems to have a dirty soap residue on it. Any ideas how to clean it?

Re: cleaning my washing machine?

  • You can run the rinse cycle with hot water & vinegar.  Or, I have seen an actual cleaning agent for washing machines sold at B, B & Beyond's website...never tried it before but was curious about it!
  • Hot water, half a gallon of white vinegar, and a couple old towels. Run a full wash cycle.
  • Definately try the vinegar and hot water cycle...

You can get those tabs to clean your machine, but honestly, they just seem very expensive.

A friend of mine swears by using a dishwasher tab in her washing machine, with hot water, to 'clean' it.  I've not tried it personally though!

  • So funny you posted this because I have never heard of anyone washing their washing maching.  This morning there was a commercial for Tide washing machine washer.
