So Greece.....

Hmm... I wonder how this is all going to play out. If they dont accept the deal, could you really see Greece leave the Euro??

Re: So Greece.....

  • I can see the Euro totally failing full stop and the EU breaking down to be honest...not sure if it is totally sustainable...it's certainly breaking the UK in some ways (being part of the EU).

  • Greek people will vote for the plan, I am sure.

But I'm kinda proud of the Greek PM and instead of the rest of Europe being so shocked and angry, they should have seen this coming. You can't hold someone's feet to the fire for so long - either save them or give up. Greece has been hurting for over 1.5 years now and they keep making them cut more and more. At some point of course they'll say "Eff you." That's human nature.

Of course, the bigger issue is that people can no longer deny the fundamental problem with the Euro: one currency and monetary policy is not sustainable with such a large disparty in countries and how they handle their money. To have to use the same solution for France, Germany, Portugal, Greece, Ireland and Slovenia is crazy!

  • Given that the people voting on the referendum are the same ones who have been protesting the austerity measures, I'm not that hopeful that it'll pass. But then again, I am a massive pessimist.
  • They have said 60% of people oppose the austerity measures so I'm thinking it will be a no.

As to what next, I don't know!

  • I regret not buying dollars last week.

What's next is four or five years of serious pain.

This. I swear I can predict when the euro is going to take the next dip just by looking at my travel itinerary to the States.
