Poll: Home parties/sellers
Since Tiff mentioned at home parties/sales, I was wondering what everyone thought of them. The Pampered Chef/Amway/Scentsy/31 type. What do you think?[Poll]
Re: Poll: Home parties/sellers
Some of my friends sell, and I don't mind going. I like pampered chef parties (Food!) and a lot of their products, so I do a catalog "show" on occasion just to get the deals.
Two friends sell 31 and I would never buy anything full price, but they each do a big open house every few months with all the past patterns and stuff majorly discounted, so I got a few xmas gifts that way last month. The problem with several friends selling is that this area is saturated and so I never host parties.
I don't know anything about Scentsy (must not have taken off here yet) and once went to a jewelry party (Premier).
I think these things are regional too... in this area, people love that stuff and love to go. I don't like expensive things or buying stuff full price, so I tend to scoff a bit, but support friends, etc.

It really depends on what is being sold and the deals I can get.
Like Cassidy - I hate paying full price for things so these types of parties usually aren't for me.
I have never hosted a party and really have no plan to start. But, most of the parties that I go to that are hosted by friends are really a lot of fun.
I do enjoy going, even if I don't buy anything. It's an excuse to get together with friends for me. Some stuff is ridiculously overpriced and just not for me, but I'll go, eat the host's food (because they're all hosted by my friends anyway), and enjoy an afternoon without Alex.
The only reason I have hosted a party is because I don't like paying full price for these things. I hosted a Scentsy party a couple months ago, and was able to get a lot of stuff for very little money after all the discounts.
I kinda like Paperced Chef and Tupperware. I always shop Avon around Christmas so it really just depends.
For the most part I only get annoyed when I'm invited to a party under false pretenses ( it's just dinner) or feel like I'm being pressured to support/and or join your pyramid scheme.
I typically only go to the jewelry parties. Lia Sophia is my favorite. Premier is okay - I'll go for the party aspect but don't usually buy Premier jewelry. (I am going to one tonight at a neighbors house actually). I like going for the socialization with the ladies.
If I buy something - it's never, ever full price. I've hosted one jewlery party in the past. I am hosting another at the beginning of December with a friend. It's an excuse to have a party at my house - I could care less if anyone bought anything. Just come over and have fun!
I would absolutely go to (or even host) a Shaklee party b/c I use it and love it (and it's freakin' cheap man!).
I'll go to Pampered Chef b/c I like the products that I've bought but I don't buy a lot of things b/c some of their stuff is a little pricey. I've never been to a Scentsy party but I've looked at their stuff and I kind of want to try out a warmer.
I don't like Mary Kay parties or any type of jewelry parties. I'll go if a good friend is hosting and buy something cheap.
One time I went to a Mary Kay party and the hostess asked us to bring our own food. That didn't really put me in the buying mood.
I'm stuck somewhere between here and there ....
me three
I get roped into going to parties, I "feel bad" and go. But that doesn't mean I'll enjoy it. On the other hand if it's the right party at the right time I'll happily go.
I usually don't mind going... if it's something I can actually use. I never spend a ton but usually pick up a thing or two.
Now a few months ago we were invited to an Uppercase Living party and that was dumb for me. I live in an apartment! So, the rep kept trying to get me to buy anyway because "they are removeable"... yesssss but then I've wasted my money because it's NOT resuable!
And you all know how I feel about pushy people. Ahem.
Our crazy, wonderful life
Not a big fan. I only go if it's one of my closest friends throwing the party, and I only go to support them. I can usually find SOMETHING small to buy. Now, if it's a sex toy party.......I almost always say yes. Those are always fun, no matter what =P
Got a freaky side, do ya?
I pretty much hate all of them. The only one I could see myself attending and buying something would be a Tupperware party, but nobody I know sells it. Otherwise, everything else seems too expensive to me, or I'm committed to other brands (for instance, I hate expensive fashion jewelry because it's a trend and I often lose/ break that type of stuff. I have specific makeup brands I don't stray from so I doubt I'd ever buy Avon or the like.)
I have never been to a Pure Romance/ Sex Toy party but I would go and I bet it would be fun/ funny. Not sure what I would buy, but I'd get a kick out of the novelty of it.
Next nestie gtg we are totally doing a sex toy party.
Yes, please.
Okay, I voted I hate them - but I definitely like the Pure Romance parties.
BEST idea ever!
A friend of mine sells Tupperware. So if I end up having another party I will let you know. I LOVE my tupperware stuff. I hosted a party and banked on the rewards/discounts. We use my tupperware stuff daily.
I have been to a few parties for jewelry and candles. I didn't really care for the products (overpriced most of the time!) but I had fun since they were often with my best friends.
I am hosting my first Scentsy party this weekend. My Aunt sells it, and I own some products and LOVE them! That is the only reason I entertained the idea of hosting a party. Not to mention, it will be so fun to spend time with friends and family, and eat some yummy goodies:)
