Little Couple Chat

Just in case people don't want to be spoiled.

In case you missed last night:

They were still in LA with their surrogate at the beginning of the episode. The two embyros were viable, one was grade A and the other was less likely to make it but still transferrable.

They did the transfer, it went well, the surrogate rested and they all went home. FF to 10 days later, the surrogate comes to their house and pretends like it is bad news when really she is pregnant. Everyone rejoices. The screen fades to black and the words "six weeks later" pop up. Bill and Jen are subdued and look like they have been crying. The surrogate miscarried. They are very sad but hopeful and willing to do the process again. Their surrogate recomitted to them, so they will all likely do this again together.

I was elated for them...then absolutely crushed. I love them so much, they seem so genuine and not reality-jaded. Maybe I took it really hard because this is an issue so close to my heart right now but I actually cried. :(

Re: Little Couple Chat

  • It was just so sad!! They wanted a baby for so long. Trust me I don't think it's you being overly sentitive it was just really sad that after only 6 weeks they lost the baby.
  • I love watching The Little Couple. Bill and Jen seem so sweet, and they didnt deserve to lost the baby. (Well, nobody deserves to lose a baby, but you know what I mean). I really hope they do try again.

  • I held my breath through the whole episode, I had a feeling the surrogate was faking them out, but once I saw the "6 weeks later" I just knew. I cried too, and my heart was just broken for them. Because I know that it's probably going to be difficult for them to get any more embryos, and I remember how hard all the drugs were on her the first what was it, three cycles of egg retrieval? It does make me happy that they have the finances to be able to give it another go, and that the surrogate is willing to do it again as well.

I was shocked to hear she did three cycles of ER and ended up with two embryos total. I hate that for them.

I understand they had to do a FET because of the timing but it's shown that frozen embryos are statistically less likely to make it. I would really push for a fresh transfer if possible. If they decide to stick with this surrogate, there should be no issue in timing their cycles together.

This! I couldn't believe it was two and I hope she has more sucess next time.

Is it wrong of my to think why don't they do adoption. I might have missed it but was this an option they looked into?

  • Leslie, I also hope they're able to do a fresh transfer, before she was doing ER cycles before they even found a surrogate so hopefully that part of the process will be much smoother this time.

Deepthi, I don't think they've addressed adoption directly, but they have said things like "we'll be a family eventually, no matter how that happens" and whatnot. But I think they probably just want a biological child, and with her age it makes more sense for them to try for one now and explore other options later. Plus, they have only done the one transfer so far, and a lot of people do many more than that. I wouldn't be surprised if they went to donor eggs if they can't get any more from Jen.
