a huge 11X14 picture of herself with a note that we could hang it "somewhere"
Now I will say that I have a pretty decent relationship with her (although she's done a few things that deserve a side eye) but really?
Or maybe I'm the only one who doesn't have a 11X14 framed picture of my MIL in my house(?)
What would your reaction be? would you hang it???

This is exactly what I said to my husband. Maybe she wants us to put it above our bed. lol.
We do have plenty of family pics (a few that do include her). But we're talking 5X7s above the fireplace and shelves. An 11X14 is something I'd get of my wedding.
Is it a real picture - like a formal photograph or something? or is the frame the gift? If I'm giving someone a picture frame (for an engagement or the like) I include a picture of myself in the frame instead of the generic ones the company includes but that's more as a joke than anything else. I don't expect the people to actually use my picture.
Could it be something like that or is she serious?
Oh she's serious. It's one of those professional studio pictures. ha!
I'm just laughing about this whole thing becuase no way am I hanging it anywhere.
My Cooking Blog
This is hilarious. Please, please, please tell me it's a Glamour Shot and she has a sparkly boa around her neck and there is a soft focus edge?
Rarely do I like a photograph of people that is larger than an 8x10.
Okay, well then.
I'm sorry to say that I'm cracking up over here.

Decorate This
Omg - an 11x14?? That's hilarious. Maybe it should go right in your entryway. Or you could tape it to a kitchen chair so she's always there for meals with you guys.
My MIL has a some massive original Howdy Doody sketch that she's been threatening to bequeath to us for years. I have no freaking clue what I'll do with that thing if she ever remembers to give it to us.

Yes. It's a total glamor shot. No sparkly things, but definitely the soft focus edges. And a rose in her hand.
Had this been smaller (read, mucvh much smaller) in size, I wouldn't mind putting it with all the other many pictures I have. But 11X14, pshhhht.
OMG please stop, I'm dying here!! lmao
Is she wearing a hat?
omg.
This keeps getting better and better. I'm DYING.
No but tons of make up and way too much cleavage for her age (IMO)
About 6 years ago, my Dad's Christmas present to each of us girls was a ginormous matted-and-framed photo of himself. He hand-wrote our names at the top of the matte, the date, and in the bottom, a line he's been saying to us since we were children "I love you more than all the grains of sand on all of the beaches in all of the world."
The photo was a studio head shot one and his thinking was that we always complained about the ridiculous faces he made in photos. He figured that should something happen to him, this photo would be a good one for us to have of him.
Yes, the picture's huge and cumbersome. It's in my upstairs hallway and no one ever sees it except for DH, DD and I. I'm sure my DH would rather it not hang on the walls (though he thinks I have too many pictures up in general - good thing I don't ask for his opinion on my decorating
), but the picture is of my father, so it gets hung.
I'm trying really hard not to LOL really loud here, but I'm dying. If my MIL sent me something like that I'd be looking around when I opened it to make sure I wasn't on candid camera or something similar.
That is definately one of those gifts that will stay hidden unless the person is coming for a visit.
My Ex-MIL gave me a and my XH a picture like that... for Christmas!
She had just finished nursing school, so she gave us a framed picture of herself in her nursing whites and cap. It was "only" an 8x10. Then she turned around and asked us to borrow the $200 so she could afford to take her nursing boards.
OMG, I'm dying here!!! Definitely put in on a chair so she can eat meals with you.
And I love that we're asking questions like we're playing Guess Who?--Does she have a hat? Are there soft focus edges? Are her bangs feathered? Is she wearing inappropriately bright lipstick?
The rose in hand absolutely cracks me up.
I'd have one of just you made and framed and give it to her for Christmas--see what she does when the tables are turned.

I can't lie, I kinda want you to take a picture of the picture, blur her face a little and PIP it.
HA! I love everything about this post and will probably wet myself if you PIP.
