appliance repair rec

Anyone have a rec in Montgomery County, preferably around Glenside/Abington?

Our dryer is not heating evenly so sometimes I have to dry a load twice.  We always clean the lint trip and I've checked the vent for clogs.

I'd hate to replace the whole dryer if it's just the heating element or thermostat.

Re: appliance repair rec

  • I dont know of anyone, but, did you clean the lint trap thats in the back of the machine, like not the one thats accessible to you daily but the one you have to take the panel off the back and clean? I dont know anything about doing it, but I have read in manuals and heard from service people that you should clean that one a couple times a year for better dryer performance....check your manual maybe and see if that helps?

  • i agree with kross, we cleaned the vent in an old apartment out and it had a paper bag in it (NO IDEA WHY!) and bam all our stuff actually dried.
  • What type of dryer do you have? We have a Kenmore and the same thing happened to us after about 3 years.

Martin was able to order the part online and fix it himself (and he is really not that handy!) and saved us $$ on the repair man.

Let me know if you want me to ask him.

  • Kross & Lachute - thanks, I am going to have Mr.D take the back off tonight and check to see if there is a blockage.

Martin - we have a Whirlpool.  It's about 10 years old.  I did look up repairing it but there are three parts that could possibly be replaced - the heating element, the thermostat or something else I can't remember - so I'd rather not gamble but we'll see.  Thanks!
